THE CROODS is the latest animation from Twentieth Century Fox and DreamWorks and it opens officially on 22nd March 2013 but I was lucky enough to have a sneak preview at the cinema this weekend for my Mother’s Day treat! This new pre-historic comedy adventure features the voice talents of Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds and Emma Stone and follows the world’s first family as they embark on the journey of a lifetime when the cave that has always shielded them from danger is destroyed.Travelling across a spectacular landscape, the Croods discover an incredible new world filled with fantastic creatures and their outlook is changed forever.
We sat down as a family and from the minute the 3D action started we were all entranced… Well, Jimmy might have had a bit of a play on the floor at times but the rest of us LOVED it!
The first time Florence has really ‘got’ 3D cinema viewing!
It was a fab choice of film for a Mother’s Day family outing because the whole film is all about family and loving each other in the best way you know how. With an over protective Daddy wanting to shield those he cares for most from the big wide world he tells stories of the worst happening if you venture into new territories. The son says at the start ‘I get it Dad, don’t try anything new!’ but of course as the story evolves we see that message change somewhat and in such a sweet and entertaining way.
My favourite part was right at the beginning when the Mum says ‘Right, sharpen your teeth and bundle up!’ before they pile on top of each other and bed down for the night. It reminded me of our house with everyone laying on top of each other… It was funny and kind with an excellent message, a touch of romance and a bit of history thrown in for good measure too! Of course it’s not true to life but it is as entertaining as you would want it to be and I can only imagine it will be as big a hit with all the other children as it is with mine! All the way home Florence chatted about The Croods and asked when we could see it again! I can only imagine there will be sequels? Here’s hoping!
Florence declined to meet one of the stars at the beginning but a sleeping Jimmy and I had our picture taken!
We left the cinema having had a fabby time!
THE CROODS is released in cinemas March 22nd 2013.
