The Grass Is Always Greener!
Having a loft conversion means I have a vista advantage over my neighbours in that I can see everybody else’s gardens and yet they can’t see mine! This is a good job for more reasons than one as in comparison my garden definitely seems to lack their sparkle. I look at my neighbour’s lawns and next to my own they look far more lush, more plentiful in grass and frankly, though it’s a bit of a cliche, their grass always does seem to be greener on the other side of our fence!
We live in a very boggy village and getting grass to grow at all is a bit of a feat. Landscape gardeners in the area always say so and recommend artificial grass as a solution. But when looking at my neighbours lawns a few months ago I thought there was no way theirs was fake, it looked TOO real, so how were they managing it when I was not?!
And then… I was creating Raffie’s second birthday party and for the table I needed a small strip of artificial grass. I didn’t need much, just a table runner’s worth for my grazing table of dreams with a Shaun the Sheep theme. I put out feelers on the local village Facebook page asking if anyone should have any off cuts that I could having knowing from conversations at the school gates that a fair few people in the village had definitely had their lawns and someone was BOUND to have a piece left over that would be PERFECT! Lo and behold guess who relied to my request? Only my blooming neighbour with her lush green garden and I was totally confused? ‘But you don’t have artificial grass do you?’ I asked and her reply was ‘Yes we do, it’s just REALLY good, not expensive either she assured me!’
And I went around to her house to pick up my off cut and have a closer look. I CAN’T believe her lawn isn’t real that’s how good it looks and when having a surf of the internet I realise that my neighbour is right, it is entirely possible to get Cheap Artificial Grass and I really think we will make the jump just as soon as we can go out and buy supplies again!
I used her strip of left over grass and kept it for any future grazing tables I may have, it was a fab accessory to the party and made the food look really good. I have it folded in my shed and the other day the kiddos got it out to play on like a mat and I was reminded that it really does look good and WAY better than the boggy lawn we have sort of trying to grow in the back garden!
