My friend Jennie who writes the Edspire blog has asked her blogging friends to write something to promote the new name of the FSID charity who have today become known as The Lullaby Trust.

Jennie and her family so sadly lost their darling baby girl Matilda Mae to SIDS, just a few short weeks ago and since then the blogging community have been behind Jennie wanting to hold, help and look after her in any way that they can. She has continued to write her own blog in an open, honest, heart breaking and beautiful way and has allowed us to support her in any of the small ways that we can, she is quite a remarkable woman.

Jennie has been working closely with The Lullaby Trust and now, with this new name change, she has asked her friends in the blogging community to come together and help build recognition for the charity. The Lullaby Trust supports families like hers as well as doing everything they can to fund research in the hope that this can be prevented from happening to other families in the future.They have chosen their new name because they hope it will be more approachable for families going through the unthinkable. Of course I want to offer Jennie and the trust my support.

I have written a lullaby in honour of the new name of the trust and of course in honour of Matilda Mae.

Close those little eyes, rest your little head, dream away your sighs, tucked up tight in bed… I love you and I bid you the sweetest of dreams.

Sing to me, sing to sleep, my heart is in your dreams to keep. You’ll dance again and have your day but night time peace is for now the way. Kiss you goodnight and hold you tight and love you over a new morning bright.

Close those little eyes, sleep your weary head, fall into your dreams and remember all I’ve said. I love you and I’ll meet you in your dreams.

Now Jonny, my husband is a musician and he will write some music to go with these lyrics. This lullaby is, for the moment, a work in progress. I wanted to get this post up today because today is the launch of the new name for The Lullaby Trust but I will add a link to the music just as soon as Jonny has written and recorded it.

Updated: While I was out today Jonny wrote some music for the lullaby. We have had a slight difference of opinion over what makes a lullaby and he is of the thinking that less is more when it comes to a lullaby… So, we have used all our best compromising skills and the lullaby is now slightly changed to the lyrics that I wrote above… He’s the musician, they’re a temperamental bunch 😉
