This week for our treat tea to celebrate the end of the week we had a Tinkerbell theme. I found it a bit difficult to make food into things from the actual films so instead just tried to make them fairy like and give a nod to Pixie Hollow and all things fairy!
We started off with a Tinkerbell milkshake made with new Bubblegum flavoured Angel Delight (we also finished the meal with a semifreddo made from the exact same but I’ll come to that later). I loved Angel Delight as a child but I did wonder about this particular flavour? I thought it might just turn out to be a little bit Monika and Mocolate (Friends fans will understand) and I’d be using as little of it as possible but honestly, it is really rather tasty and that Angel Delight unmistakable taste is very much at home. I’d forgotten how yummy it is and wow, it’s easy to use. I wanted to use it in a different way than expected and change up the consistency but I didn’t want to do anything over complicating as the beauty of Angel D is that it is quick and easy as well as being delicious. For the milkshake I added double the amount of milk and whisked until smooth and frothy!
And for the party food I wanted to do fun things that I knew the children would eat. Sandwiches always go down well when I use cutter or do something to make them a little different so sandwiches it was along with some other bits and bobs!
Then it was time for desert which again I was making from the new Bubblegum flavoured Angel Delight. I wanted to make a sort of semifreddo but one which the children would like and again I didn’t want to over complicate the fact that Angel Delight is such a simple desert. I remember where my Mum would usually say no to anything like pancakes or home made popcorn because it took more effort than she fancied, she would pretty much always say yes to Angel Delight. It was definitely a treat but it didn’t take time or effort so I guess it was one of my own Mum’s cheats! To make the semifredo I simply switched the milk for single cream and then popped it in the freezer. It thickened up very quickly with the cream and from bowl to freezer the whole process lasted less than 15 minutes with very little effort. The children could easily make this on their own and actually, for another week I might get them to make regular Angel D at the table as a fun activity! Pretty good eh!
And that was our Tinkerbell Tea with two different ways of using Angel Delight! Next week Jimmy has requested a football tea so I am trying to work out if I can grow cress on a ‘field’ between now and then for them to make their own football sandwiches… I might be being a little ambitious but will give it a go!
This post is an entry for #AngelDelightMoments Linky Challenge.
Fantastic! Especially your fairy mushrooms, they are adorable!
I think your children are lucky to have such a fun and creative parent. Commenting for myself and on behalf of BritMums and thanking you for taking part
I love everything about this, you have so many fantastic ideas! How did you make the cookie wands? Did you push the sticks in when the cookie was still warm or attach some other way?
Thank you for linking up to Fun Food Friday!
Thanks Grace, they only take about 5 minutes in the oven so I did it before I cooked them. 🙂
Ah! How sweet! Looks like they’re having a lovely time x
