Beach Weather!

YES! It’s beach weather and long may it continue.
Living in Norfolk I’m spoiled for choice when it comes to great beaches. Even somewhere like Great Yarmouth (not my fave place to visit) has a beautiful beach, what can I say? We’re gifted with the best of the best and that means getting my car ready for all of our adventures so that even the most spontaneous trip to the sea is accommodated!
I like to have, not just a bag ready, but a whole boot so that if I pick the kids up from school and it’s still lovely and sunny, then we can off very quickly and be eating chips with a side of sand before we know it.
My favourite beach in Norfolk is Cromer and when I venture across the border to Suffolk (ek – don’t be mad at me Norfolk folk), my heart belongs to Southwold! But… What’s in that all important pack up?
Well…
Swimmers:
You have to be ready for swimming, paddling and splashing at all times so an SPF suit for the kiddos, a few bikinis for me, a wetsuit for our surfer girl Florence and we all love a microfibre beach towel because they’re really great for not picking up sand, drying almost instantly and they take up such little room you hardly know they’re there!
Buckets and spades:
Not just buckets and spades but when visiting my two favourite haunts we also like to go crabbing so a big bucket, a packet of bacon (crabs like bacon, who knew?!) and we also love to take a little paddling pool to keep tiny toes away from the waves but still in water.

Food:
Obviously we eat chips on the beach, because, when in Rome… Ok, it’s a weak argument but it’s the one I’m taking and we also take with us to the beach “the fish and chip bag”! Inside this we keep a big bottle of ketchup, salt and vinegar, wet wipes and kitchen roll and also a few forks. We are nothing, if not prepared!

Flight:
We have a LOT of stuff to carry so I always use my wagon which is brilliant when folded for being small but it takes such a lot of weight that the two littlest can fit in it while we carry all the other stuff too! Our one is from Coleman and it’s been going strong for a few years. The handle recently broke but we’re still making it work!

Hoodies:
At the end of the day it might get a bit chilly so I do also keep the children a hoodie each in the beach boot. This year they have adorable ones from Boden which I wrote about yesterday – I wish they did them in adult size!

What else do you think would be invaluable to me beach boot of readiness?!
