Just over a year ago Florence’s devotion to her favourite animal, the meerkat, began when we took a trip to the London National Geographic store. We were there for an introduction to all the things the store has on offer for little ones like their wonderful magazine aimed at children and we came away, having met with their animal man, with the then new-found love for the animals which have made comparison shopping more fun, the simple(s) meerkat! The animal man, who […]

Before babies Valentines Day was about hearts and flowers. Actually what am I talking about, no it wasn’t, well, not in our house anyway! My ever romantic husband, who was my boyfriend back then was never one to go all out for a romantic evening, even if it WAS Valentines day. I remember one year, when I specifically told him he was in charge of it and I wanted pampering, he forgot to book a table anywhere. On the day […]
I’m the sort of person who visits the Doctor’s ALL the time. I’m not a hypochondriac, I just worry about things… I guess like any Mother, when it comes to the children, I would always rather make a GP visit if I’m worried, get some reassurance and feel better but when it comes to me I worry too sometimes but feel bad going into the surgery when in my heart it’s just a bit of reassurance I want. I suspect […]
I think when it comes to having new babies and the gear we need for them we automatically think of Mothercare as being the high street retailer we will buy all our bits from. Even if it’s a first baby and never before have we had the need to shop in such a place we still know that Mothercare is the place to be. They have such a good brand and are so well thought of, being Mummy’s staple shop for generations […]
I enter loads of competitions! I just kind of just think if you’re not in it, you can’t win it and because I’ve been ‘in it’ lots of times I’ve actually won lots of competitions! I encourage all my pals to enter as many as they can too. They’re always skeptical but when I tell them all the things I’ve won, tickets to the Isle of Wight Festival, £1000 worth of toys and make-up to name but a few items, […]
As a creative person I am always looking for ways to use that side of myself. If I don’t do anything creative for a while I start to find myself feeling depressed and melancholy. When I worked in an office I found it so stifling that I vowed never to go back after having children and luckily have been able to keep to that. It is all a question of money though and the reason I left acting to work […]
At christmas and For Florence’s birthday my in-law’s gave her money towards her ballet and tap lessons. She was desperate to start and was totally thrilled with this as a present. To go with the classes she got things like the outfits and the shoes for each class and one of the lovely items my Mother-in-law picked up from a local Christmas market was a gorgeous hand-knitted ballet style wrap around cardigan from ‘Knit One Turnbull’. It’s perfect for Florence […]
I absolutely love the idea of leading a holistic lifestyle. Much as I am drawn to the idea of attachment parenting and following things like the Continuum Concept with my approach to child rearing it’s just something that appeals. But just as with my ‘natural parenting’, the way I lead a holistic lifestyle is with a pick and choose attitude! I would simply love to be the person following all the ‘rules’ but it’s not something I seem to manage […]
I tried these delicious and healthy dumplings when I went to an Ayuvedic event recently to launch Palmolive’s new Ayurituel range of shower gels inspired by the ancient Indian Ayurvedic traditions. Chef Anjum Anand was there to cook for us and tell us why she loves to eat and live her life by the traditions and these were one of the things we ate on the day. Anjum calls them Momos and here’s what she has to say about them […]
As an adult living in the age of technology that we do I find the post I receive is pretty darn boring at best and plain annoyingly bill like at worst! The majority of my exciting news comes to me via email and although on the one hand it’s lovely to get updates and important information at the touch of a button, there is something a little lost about the personal touch of opening a letter. Much like the art […]
