It’s that time of year again when I’ve left it to the last minute to buy my photo calendars. I do one every year for the Grandparents, Jonny to have one in his desk at work and one for us to have at home too. I never learn though and every single year it gets to just before Christmas before I realise I still haven’t organised it.
I’ve used CEWE before because I’ve always had brilliant prints, canvas and, of course, photo books from them and they’ve been brilliant but for some reason last year I used a different company. I obviously ordered them late and then was cutting it very fine when this other conpany took a really long time to process and despatch my order. I also wasn’t as impressed as I had been when I’d used CEWE so this year I definitely wanted to go back to them.
So I did!
I find their site quite easy to use and you can either make your orders for calendars, photo books, canvas prints etc using their website or you can download the software. I’m all for quickness when it comes to the calendars so I did it on the site (which did mean I couldn’t choose the glossy paper option for my big calendar) and uploaded all the pictures I wanted in about half an hour. This was mainly because I spent so long choosing which ones.
You immediately get a result to say if your picture is of good enough quality and it grades them to say they are good, accptable or poor. This is fab as I was using pictures from both my iPhone (which worked ok for the smal desk top calendars I ordered) and also my DSLR which was the only option for the big A3 calendar I ordered for us to have in the kitchen.
I got in a bit of a muddle trying to find why I couldn’t find the glossy options for paper so I used the website ‘chat’ service where you get to immediately talk, via text on the cimputer, to a CEWE expert. In moments I found out I’d have to do the calendars using the software rather than the site and because I’d already donw most of everything else I decided to just leave it as it was. Obviously this is me just being lazy. I’ve used the software for photobooks and it’s just as easy to use I just couldn’t be bothered to upload the pics again and start from scratch when I’d been so meticulous in choosing the right ones…
So… I made my calendars choosing the favourite pictures from the year for each month and a cover photo and bespoked each one separately. I chose pictures for my Mum which were different to the ones I chose for my Dad, Jonny, Jonny’s parents, my Grandmother and for us on the big A3 calendar. The others I made small desk top ones as my Mum likes them and then they’re not big for the rest of the relations to have to display! Jonny has a new job with a big office and desk so I wanted hi to have a desktop calendar for that for sure!
Within a few hours of finishing and ordering I;d had confirmation of processing and it took about 4 days for delivery from pressing ENTER to opening the door to the post man. Cant say better than that now can you?!
I also am super pleased with the quality of them, the card is thick, the photographs have come out perfectly and there wasn’t a single thing as I hadn’t expected it to be. I love this type of calendar for gifts, especially for people like my Grandmother (the children’s Great Grandmother) who will be really pleased with all the pictures. They’re so personal and I’ve made each one just a little bit different to suit the person I am sending it to. The colours have come out jut as they are on my pictures and I love them. I’m SO pleased I went back to CEWE this year, I’m sure that you can see why!
