Creative Fabrica – The Teacher Clubcard!

Creative Fabrica – The Teacher Clubcard!

In the midst of lock-down, whilst trying to home-school our own children, my husband was finishing off his teacher training, after a career change which saw him finally doing the job he’s always wanted to do. It was a strange time for everyone of course, but for a trainee teacher, unable to go into the class room and instead working remotely from home and teaching on line (all whilst trying to learn on line himself), it was an extremely odd position for him to find himself. However, here we are more than 2 years later and he’s fully qualified having finished his year with the highest marks he could have gained and accepting a job in a school he loves. It was tricky in the beginning, as it is for all NQTs of course, but for him with lock-down rules still in place, it made it an unprecedented. He rose to the challenge and has worked hard at being a great teacher ever since.

Coming into the profession later in life means he doesn’t have this wealth of teaching experience that others of his vintage own, not yet, this is something he is building it’s just from a later starting point. While ideas and lesson plans have been formulated and worked on to make better on a year on year basis for some of his contemporaries, for him everything in new, and the resources, the lessons, everything has to come from scratch. My Mum, also a teacher, told him to never throw a lesson plan away, to always keep interesting objects and to find teaching resource websites which have a wide and diverse range of things he can utilise.

Teaching Resource websites are invaluable for all teachers. It’s the modern way of word of mouth, passing on ideas in the staff room, but instead of from a small pool of teachers sharing their wealth, this is wide open access to the best ideas in the world. Creative Fabrica is a teaching resource website which offers subscribers a key to unlock a fountain of resources, ready and waiting to make classes better, with brilliant learning. £2.99 a month offers teachers 260 downloads a year (5 per week) and with 12.4k available at all times and new ones added daily, there is never a shortage of material!

You don’t have to be a teacher to take advantage of this brilliant offer which can be cancelled at any time as it doesn’t have a time limit lock in. You could be a home-schooler or just a parent who wants to do a little bit more with your child. Perhaps if your little one is struggling, a little one on one time for education is needed but if you’re not a teacher, as many of us found we weren’t during lock-down, where to begin is daunting. A subscription for help in this form of resource is invaluable. It’s also an incredible tool for parents of children who need stimulating further than school can take them. When our eldest was at primary school she definitely needed to have a bigger stretch than the teachers were allowed to (such a strange head teacher that we had in that respect)!

I asked my husband what the best thing about Creative Fabrica is because, let’s face it, he’s far better placed to tell you why it’s great than I am. He says it’s easy to navigate the lessons are brilliant because they offer such a wide variety he could never have thought of all the ideas it offers him and ultimately it saves him time, energy and stress for a very inexpensive price. Teachers work so hard, all the time. He works on the weekend, the holidays, the evenings and I don’t think he’s ever not thinking about lessons, or how something may work in the class-room. To save him a little time here and I’d say £2.99 is beyond worth the small expense!

Collaboration.
