Dearest Raffie,
You are ten months old already, how did that happen?! This time last year I was cradling my bump feeling like I’d been pregnant for about ten years and yet in the last ten months time has just flown. It’s because I enjoy every second with you and time always flies when you’re having fun!
This month you have got super fast on your bum shuffle which is a funny as ever! You go everywhere on your bottom dragging one leg behind you and it might look a little ungainly buy boy you get where you want to go quickly! You have also started to pull yourself up to standing and are so very pleased with yourself, the look of glee on your gorgeous face is enough to melt my heart. You can also now wave to people although you don’t like to do it very often!
You are so into everything now and the kitchen cupboards have never been so opened! You also fell off the bed which was horrible and you had a big bump – I told your Daddy to watch you while I went to the loo and 30 seconds later… THUD! He didn’t realise how quick you could be and we were all very shocked, none more so than you of course! We went to the Doctor about that particular bump as it looked a bit nasty although you took it all in your stride and were smiling again shortly after. It’s time for the stair gates and the play pen I think!
We have been having a mega heatwave and you deal with that beautifully even when in a tent at a festival. You even didnt bat an eyelid when the sun hid away and we got 50mph winds and rain while at Camp Bestival and you slept right through the drama! You just get on with stuff and it seems not to bother you. Even when I apply the dreaded suncream you don’t kick up too much fuss, nothing compared to your brother, and you’ve been enjoying all the activities a sunshine day brings – which thankfully is way more than the rainy days this summer. We’ve been to the beach a lot and you seem to think sand is wonderful even though it gets everywhere, while you are a little uncertain of the sea… You’re happiest when Florence and Jimmy are with you and as it’s the summer holidays and you get them every day you are delighted.
You laugh and laugh and laugh at things at the moment and it’s so joyous to watch as is making you food which you continue to try with glee. You chatter away to me and hate to be parted from me (and I you) and you are always close to me. You sleep next to me and I must have an indent in my hip now where you sit. Friends say you will be sitting on my hip until you’re 30, they think I’m a bit of a walkover when it comes to you and I think I probably am but I don’t mind a jot! You have two teeth at the top now and you have discovered you can bite but you don’t do that too often… Pinching on the other hand and you can’t resist!
