Football Golf At Amazona Zoo Cromer!
We are long fans of the zoo in Cromer known as Amazona! I have been an annual member for a good few years now and absolutely recommend visiting as it’s an affordable attraction which may be small, but is perfectly formed. I won’t lie, it’s not an all singing and all dancing day out and it won’t take you long to exhaust what’s on offer in the zoo. If you’re looking for a whole day out then this place isn’t really the ticket on its own, it’s more a half day or a few hours yet the charm it offers makes it thoroughly worth visiting all the same. An annual pass is just £30 for an adult (£22 for a child and £25 for a senior, under 4s are free) and day tickets are competitive with a family of four able to purchase a group ticket for just £40. I’d say that’s on the money and comparably with similarly sized attractions like Thrigby Hall (not my favourite) it’s far better value!
This weekend just gone we were invited to visit as guests of the park and seeing as we have season tickets and were camping with friends I jumped at the chance to take them with us. We had children of all ages (1, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12) and each one had a brilliant time seeing the animals and playing in the BRILLIANT play ground!
The animals are lots of fun with Mara (they look like half rabbit / half deer) roaming around and with the new baby tapir to see as well as the Caiman Crocodiles, Spider Monkeys, Big Cats, Tropical Birds and more, it’s a really interesting place to be. The information around the park about the animals is vast, the playground is quite extensive and there’s even an indoor soft play which works brilliantly for us on colder days. The cafe is also good with very inexpensive children’s food (a kid’s meal is £3.50).
We had a great time as always but you know I’m always honest, what’s the point in not being, so I will say that this visit (and it’s not indicative to our usual visits it has to be said) we had and witnessed pretty rude customer service. Luckily it didn’t detract from the overall fun and by the time we made it to Football Golf (a separate but on the same site attraction), we were over it.
The football golf enhances the day even more and it took us about an hour and a half to complete the 9 hole course which is brilliantly thought out and comes with a sheet guide to advise you how to take each hole. We were a large group of 10 and I suspect it may be quicker and work better if you split up and do it in smaller teams of twos or fours but we still had a laugh, again all ages but especially the two Daddys of us who were super competitive!
Football Golf costs £7 per person and they provide balls for all ages in differing sizes. It’s very vast and open with no shade so do slap on the suncream and have a blast in this novel and fun way to enjoy more time on site making Amazona a full day out instead of half if you want it to be. There’s also a PYO strawberry field next door to the golf which sadly we missed as we didn’t finish our last hole until closing time but we will go back for sure! A great addition to our favourite Cromer and we love how you can do this as well as, or alone, to the zoo!
Thanks for having us Amazona!
