Great Garden Ideas For This Summer

The bliss of the English summer is very nearly upon us.  OK, that’s wishful thinking we’ve got a few months yet, but that doesn’t mean that you don’t have to start dreaming your perfect spring/summertime garden into existence, right now.

As a matter of fact, we can’t think of a better way to warm up the cockles of your heart, than with an afternoon sat by a rainy window, with hot chocolate – and your summertime garden vision board.

Now, if you’re in the need of some inspiration for your perfect summertime garden, read on – there are tons of good ideas to be had, while if you’re thinking ahead and planning on hosting a garden party or gathering, give some beer garden ideas a thought to incorporate a fun twist on your summer garden.

I BEG YOUR PARDON…

Planting and cultivating roses is the absolutely most perfect and quintessential romantic English garden. Nothing says England more than an English rose, and you’ll also be pleasantly surprised at versatile these beautiful flowers can be.

Not just beautiful, but also blessed with an abundance of beautiful scents and each rose has a particular perfume, that when mixed in bunches, creates a gorgeous scent-filled garden.

Find some tips on a beautiful rose garden, here.

LAWN MATTERS

Few things inspire lazy, sun-filled days, sipping in a Pims and eating strawberries quite like a lush, well maintained, green English lawn. You can start preparing now by ordering your Grass seed online and making sure that you have the right equipment for sowing, seeding, growing and maintaining – in time for the spring.

LIGHT UP YOUR LIFE

Garden spaces can be given an instant upgrade in size, just by changing the lighting in your garden. There are tons of other cool accessories that you can have in your garden to create a space that is uniquely yours.

MOVIES UNDER THE STARS

With advances in technology and prices that are continually decreasing, your outdoor space could be turned into the perfect summertime escape, without having to leave your home. Idea Home has a fabulous article that tells you all about setting up a home cinema in your garden.

(and for this, you don’t have to wait for the summer – some warm blankets, jersey’s and a hot drink, and you’re good to go!)

DISCOVERY GARDENS

If you have kids, then discovery gardens are a wonderland waiting to happen and are limited only by your creativity and space. Think secret reading spaces with comfy cushions and cozy nooks, chalkboard for drawing and dreaming, and top-secret tents with stary ceilings – all, in your garden.

As much as we hate to admit it, Covid is probably going to be with us for a little longer yet, and while life is slowly returning to something resembling normal, it’s still a good idea to make your home (and this includes your outdoor spaces), as liveable, breathable and “fun-able” as possible.

More and more neighbours (that are on the very best terms of course) have even started installing garden gates between their properties so that their kids have even more space to play and be entertained in. A few solid boundaries and house rules are all that is needed to keep that hassle free, so think out the box.

Jack Frost my yet be hanging about, but pretty soon – it’s going to be coconut scented body oils and sunscreens!

Collaboration.
