Hello Kitty Tea – Friday Night Treat Tea!

This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

Last week Florence requested a ‘Hello Kitty’ theme for our next Friday Night Treat Tea and without a lot of time to prepare (what with being in Marbella and all) I decided to make it really simple this week and do sandwiches with a few extras.

I ordered a ‘Hello Kitty’ stamp cutter from Amazon for 75p but unfortunately it hasn’t arrived meaning I have had to improvise and cut out the sandwich shapes myself… This, I hope, will go some way to explaining why they don’t look as pretty as I wanted them to!

So! This is what we had for our ‘Hello Kitty’ Friday Night Treat Tea which was well deserved after a long week of missing us while we were away and not quite being happy at school yet!

I ran a lemon around the rim of their cups and dipped them in sugar like I do when making cocktails then I sugared some strawberries and popped them on the side for more decoration. Once I had filled them with orange squash I popped in two small straws each!

The Hello Kitty sandwiches were’s as good looking as they might have been had the cutters arrived but both Florence and Jimmy loved them. They were just ham in white bread with cucumber eyes, nose and whiskers and a red pepper bow!

To accompany the sandwiches I cooked some Birds Eye Mash Tags to share  and tried to write @HelloKitty using the @ sign and ketchup! It wasn’t easy straight out of the bottle and I had to fill a piping bag!

Next I just took a pot of custard (Florence is rather partial) and using chocolate icing pens and a strawberries I made ‘Hello Kitty’ faces!

Then to finish we decorated marshmallows into ‘Hello Kitty’ faces. I did one so they could see what to do and cut up mini marshmallows for ears along with everything else they’d need for them to have a go!

They had a lovely tea with a bit of vegetable swapping!

And they loved decorating the marshmallows!

So, that’s our Friday night Treat Tea over for another week. I re-used the table cloth from last week as well as some of the cake decoration stuff from Jane Asher at Poundland and the silver plates I bought for our first tea still have loads left despite me ruining a few today trying to write @HelloKitty in ketchup! Jimmy got in quick today and said that next week he wants it to be Rio themed. I presume he means the film and wants blue birds rather than slinky dancers with lots of feathers in their hair but I could be wrong?!
