High street jewellery: This season’s best pieces
The high street has always traditionally been looked down on by fashion snobs, but the designs that begin life on the runway at London Fashion Week always end up there eventually and at a fraction (of a fraction) of the price. This is particularly true when it comes to jewellery.
When shopping for a wedding ring or a piece that you’ll be wearing on special occasions, of course, you’re going to want to use a specialist jeweller. But for the pieces you’ll be wearing to the office every day, the pieces you’ll want to swap out and experiment with, then unless you want to end up spending a small fortune, then the high street will almost certainly have you covered.
With that in mind, we’ve singled out a few of our favourite high street jewellery fashions for the Spring season. These pieces are all designed to suit light and breezy Spring clothing and are all going to set you back less than £20.
Tortoiseshell Hoops – This is a trend that we’ve really been appreciating in recent years – the return of the faux tortoiseshell hoop earring. These are large and commanding enough to really frame your face but also light and delicate enough to only make a subtle impression. The ideal accompaniment to everything from office wear to evening wear.
Subtle Chokers – OK, you’ll probably end up paying a little more than £20 for a good choker, but you don’t need to go all out and follow the bulky and honestly uncomfortable-looking chokers worn on the runway. Choker necklaces can be surprisingly subtle as long as you keep the links thin.
Geometric Rings – Jewellery trends come and go but one piece that will always have pride and place in any daily collection is a good set of rings. This year, geometric shapes are all the rage and can be found on most high streets. The glorious thing about these rings is that there are so many potential combinations to experiment with and so many different shapes to discover.
Silk Bracelets – Nothing says elegant and simple like a set of complementary bracelets. You can opt to wear just one or mix and match multiple pieces to create a layered look. You can also go for a more rustic approach by sticking to silk thread bracelets over heavier gold and silver numbers.
Natural Necklaces – Finally, as it’s the season of natural beauty, accentuate the Spring vibes with a floral necklace that reflects the colour and the whimsy that’s everywhere this time of year. It’s a wonderful way of bringing the light and joy of the season into your wardrobe without having to resort to flowery dresses and gaudy accessories.
