Interior Bedroom Trends For Spring 2023
Spring cleaning feels like a physical need at this time of year. The nights have begun to get shorter and with sunshine bursting in through the windows as day breaks it shows up all the aged parts of a bedroom which could use a little TLC, spurring us on to move the room, clean every whistle and more than that, make changes to freshen up and bring on a new season of summer.
They say there’s nothing like the smell of fresh bed linen but that isn’t true, actually putting brand new fresh bed linen on your bed can make the world of difference and begin a make-over for your new slumber space. Often we can forget how important our bedrooms are but with us at least trying to achieve 8 hours of sleep a night we spend most of our time in them, This is surely all the invitation you need to take your new bed linen and run with it making your space more comfortable, ultra calming and right on trend than ever before!
It sounds like it starts with how you dress your bed and of course that’s a great focus however, the foundations are often overlooked. What’s underneath is the real bones of how comfortable you’re going to be in your newly decorated and freshly spun bedroom and beginning with the bed frame is the true birth of a new special place to rest your head.

Once you’ve chosen the size and style you can build the rest of the dream pod beginning with curtains. Of course we do love to see those rays and beams shining through the windows to welcome a new day but let’s face it, it’s a bit of a rude awakening until we choose to have it. Having the right shade is important on so many levels not to mention the aesthetics. Popular in loft rooms are black out blinds which can be fitted to perfectly fit Velux windows. A more traditional style curtain can be blackout lined too but for me, with a summery vibe in hand I don’t like to eliminate all the day light and would instead choose a heavy lining which can allow some of the light to creep in gradually around the edges. Natural light is so good for the mind and in the summer months it’s all about getting as much of it as possible to make us feel buoyed and joyed. Seasonal Affective Disorder is very real and we need to take advantage where we can.
Because I’m using light as the first layer of the new bedroom build everything within it has to be a compliment and bright, white walls is where it’s at. There was a time and a place for feature walls with lots of bits and pieces to pick up dust but it is not in the here, or the now. Today is about minimalism without starkness. Adding accent pieces to walls rather than a full wall of print is much more appealing and on trend. Metal shelves with carefully curated pieces upon it offers a vibe which not only looks modern today but which can be refreshed and changed as time goes on, even for different seasons.
Right now we are thinking greens to contrast with the while but melt into the warmth of the natural daylight. Trailing plants and candles which are to be lit, not left to gather dust, alongside your perfume bottles can make a striking feature which isn’t as permanent as a wall paper. However, if you would like to inject a little touch of something unusual which is easily changed without much thought then masking off a shaped in an area to paint in keeping with the theme of golds and greens on white can be a great idea. Golden edges would work so well as they glisten for summer but feels so warm in colder months too, it gives a real designer feel and who doesn’t want to be known and the one with the designer rooms both in and outside their homes?!
We’re keeping things clean and versatile, rather than fussy and over done but bedrooms are to be lived in and we mustn’t forget that. Our spaces for sleep have to be as functional as they are glorious to look at and spaces to keep books which we should devour at bedtime over looking at screens is a really good idea. I like to think outside the box and use a church pew to store books and areas of comfort within my bedroom. Nightstands are also very key as we must hydrate over night when we wake with a thirst and somewhere to place a glass of water is a must.
The star of the show is our bed, with a mattress of dreams to take us comfortably from one day to the next. The white is my canvass and every embellishment on top is simply to bring joy. I like to think I’ve done a good job with my room, it’s capable of looking after all my needs without being too fussy and it has really made a new summery space for my spring clean/tidy/refresh of the room.
