The Little Bird collection by Jools Oliver for Mothercare has got to be my all time favourite collection for children at the moment. I could bang on for ages about what good quality it is but I think we all know Mothercare is one of our most trusted brands so I think we can safely say the quality as a given… I could bang on about what a good price everything is, there is nothing I wouldn’t be able to afford and we live very modestly but just look at the prices and see for yourself – I know you won’t need convincing… And I could keep on banging my drum about all the other many things I like about the collection but I just know that I don’t have to. I know all I have to do is show you in pictures how fabulous it all is!

I will just say this though, these clothes are classic, some of my pictures look like they could come from any decade over the last 50 years or so and I absolutely love that! So many of them scream kisses from my own childhood and for us, that’s perfect! I can’t stand girls in sequins and black ruffled tutu’s! I simply hate seeing boys in shiny puffa jackets and mini designer jeans… There’s a time for them to look like little women and teenage boys but now is the time for them to look like children! And personally, seventies/eighties fashion for children is just perfect! Jools Oliver obviously grew up around the time I did and has similar clothing memories… Our clothes weren’t tacky, they weren’t shiny, cheap or made to look like they were adult clothes for children! They were children’s clothes and had a retro charm that is reflected in this collection. She has taken the best of what we had with our beautiful T bar shoes but made them bright red instead of brown! The T shirts with rainbows make me think of the children in ET and The Goonies and I wanted them for my children as soon as I saw them! I wanted everything! I had a list as long as my arm if I’m honest and I still want more… Look at my pictures, I know you’re going to love them too!

This dress is my favourite thing in the whole collection. Every time Florence wears it people comment and ask me where it’s from! We both love it!

Boys things are often boring. This is interesting but not at all over the top. It’s just a T-Shirt but it happens to be a pretty fab one!

I know that’s a lot of pictures of just two items but they are so lovely and look so adorable that I couldn’t resist!

When Jools Oliver first started designing for the collection there was a promo picture of their whole family dressed in a pair of the Rainbow Print Pyjamas and I thought they were SO cool! Now this pair is the new design (Rainbow ones still available) and I love them too! I love my little ones in their matching night gear, just wish we had a pair for us too!

Again this is just perfect! Beachy days can often be windy and when the sun goes behind a cloud this is easy to slip on and is super soft! Fab that it has a hood and I could quite easily use this as a beach cover up, towel to dry off in for after paddling and also as a jumper! Need to get one for Florence too!

Skirts hardly ever fit Florence around the waist because she’s so teeny and they don’t stay up but this one has an elasticated rainbow waist band so at last she can have a proper skirt! She is thrilled! This T-Shirt is SO lovely that I want one of these for myself too! She looks wonderful in this outfit and she loves wearing it too!

Florence is wearing hers with the denim skirt pictured previously and Jimmy has matched his with dungarees from the ‘Spring Into Colour’ collection also from Mothercare. I think the red trim is gorgeous and I get a real kick from them wearing these matching items. Fit for a boy or a girl this is the same print as their matching retro pyjamas and it’s a wonderful nod at the seventies which is also appealing to me!

Florence thinks this elasticated belt with an easy to do up clasp is absolutely superb! She doesn’t need to wear it with her denim skirt as pictured above as the skirt has a rainbow waist band anyway but she thinks the belt is so fab that she wanted to! It’ll be great for all the skirts that DON’T fit her round the waist! I was surprised but pleased that the belt wasn’t a little too big for her actually but it fits perfectly and of course, as it’s elastic, it will grow with her. The clasp is easy to use but it also can just be pulled up and down which is terrific for a little one. I think I’ll have to get Jimmy one as well as it would suit a boy too I think! I remember having belts like this myself!

So many of these clothes are suitable for boys or girls and I think Florence might just have to have one of these just like her brother because it’s utterly practical as well as looking super cute! Comfy to play on the beach in with a hood to protect from the sun and absorbent for any sea spray splashes! It zips up the front too so it would be very easy for Florence to get on and off by herself.

This would make a beautiful gift because it comes with the most adorable floppy eared rabbit in rainbow colours! Again this is the same retro print as the T-Shirts and Pyjamas pictured previously but the back ground colour is slightly lighter. You can see from the middle picture of the three that the all in one suit is whiter whereas the pyjamas and T-Shirts are more of a cream!

And for the last item in my little collection from the range I have to show you these shoes! They’re so alike the ones I used to wear as a child except mine were boring brown. As soon as Florence saw them she shouted ‘Red shoes, red shoes’! And was so pleased! She decided immediately that they are ‘dancing shoes’ and wore them to the kids disco where we were holidaying every night! She wants to wear them all the time so I am getting another pair for best and she can wear this pair every day! They are beautiful and when I’ve tweeted about them the response from other people has been ‘I want a pair’! I have to say I agree, if only they did my size in these too!

I was not paid to write about the Little Bird Collection. I was going to buy all of these items and had made my list when I was asked if I would like to choose some pieces from the collection for a review. I can hand on heart say that is 100% true and had I not been gifted them for review I would have absolutely been buying these items this summer – weren’t we lucky. I am not disappointed with them in real life compared to the pictures in the slightest and I am going to get lots of the pieces in bigger sizes for next year too. In fact, after perusing the collection on-line again this morning, I also have another load of items I shall be buying from it!
