Little Tikes STEM Jr Launch!
Last weekend the kiddos and I attended the launch party for the new Little Tikes StEM Jr range at the Museum of Childhood (one of our fave old haunts in London) and we had an absolute blast! The range is geared for kids between the ages of 3 and 6 and though only Jimmy is in this age range from the Rocknrollerbaby brood we found that Florence and Raffie loved elements of it too proving once again something I have long believed to be true about Little Tikes and that’s that age is no barrier. I mean come on… If you’ve not squeezed yourself into a Cozy Coupe as an adult I’m not sure you’ve even had fun EVER!
We are age old fans of the brand and believe they really do know what quality is when it comes to children’s toys and I’m thrilled that they have branched out the way they have over the past few years adding more and more toys and equipment into their fleet. The new Stem Jr science range is loads of fun and while it engages the little ones in something they can have great enjoyment with it is also teaching them lots of interesting knowledge with hands on experiments that can be done safely at home time and time again!
First up there’s the Wonder Lab where stand up little scientists can make potions and bring experiments to life in a hands on way all by themselves and this is the item Jimmy thought was most fun! Of course he did, it was SUPER messy and for me a toy they would have to have in their play house (I am not a Mum who even allows Play Doh) but this is DEFINITELY the one Jimmy would add to his Christmas list because he sees the potential for mess and fun and creativity which is JUST up his street!
Create your own lava lamp was the item Florence was most interested in because it couples two of her favourite things – experiments and craft! She was all about making her lamp look pretty at the party and the beauty is she could make a new one every day if she wanted! Lots less mess than the Wonder lab but just as much fun and for her older mind a bit more in keeping with her stage of learning (she’s 8)!
Of course Raffie, who turned one this week, is way under the age range but with a big brother and sister he is used to adapting toys to suit him and he was totally intrigued by the spinning around robot. He is a genius I think because within minutes he worked out that the robot would move much faster off the foam mat and on the floor and repeatedly moved it to see it go faster – little scientist in the making I think!
We had great fun at the party playing with all the toys and also enjoying the scientific entertainment where slime (banned in our house so it conveniently got lost on the way home – I’m not mean, see what it did to my NEW kitchen work surface a while back and you’ll agree) was made amongst other fun and hands on experiments!
We also LOVED reacquainting ourselves with the V&A Musuem of Childhood which is just brilliant, has lots of hands on exhibits for the kiddos itself and is also a little bit of a time capsule for a walk down the toy box memory lane – Hello Day to Night Barbie which was one of my fave toys as a child!
