People never ask me why I like the Little Bird By Jools range from Mothercare because EVERYONE likes it and EVERYONE already knows the reasons! It’s a little piece of the old-fashioned brought bang up to date by one sassy mamma (let’s face it, who doesn’t want to be best mates with Jools Oliver?) and it keeps children looking like children rather than mini adults.
I love that Jools takes inspiration from the clothes she wore as a child and the collections always remind me of my 80’s early childhood too. My Mum kept some of my clothes, which mainly came from Mothercare back in the day, and they were made so well that 30 years later my own children have worm and are wearing them while I expect they will last another couple of decades to be passed onto their own children too. Clothes from the 80’s were fabulous and Little Bird By Jools brings back that FAB! I don’t just like it, I LOVE it!
I’ve had a Little Bird By Jools Summer 15 haul in the past couple of weeks and incredibly I haven’t over spent (well priced it is too) so I will have to go back and pick up the bits and pieces I missed. I’ll get onto my booty in a minute but first take a look at my retro Mothercare corduroy dungas modeled beautifully by Florence some 30 years after I wore them myself! I am so thrilled that MC and LBBJ see that THIS is the sort of thing children should be wearing as opposed to horrible diamante studded ‘Daddy’s Little Princess’ motif horridness!
And… Onto the Summer 15 collection from Little Bird By Jools at Mothercare. First up here’s what I bought!
And secondly, here are the clothes being worn by my favourite models Florence and Jimmy. They both really love the clothes themselves and are always happy to wear them for me to photograph. This particular shoot was taken on the Wanstead Flats, on our road and at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
So… What do you think then and what’s still on my wish list did I hear you ask? Is there nything left in the collection for me to buy? Well, yes, loads and quite a lot on the list too! I still need to get Florence this year’s Ditsy Dress, The Cross Back Sundress, The Striped Seersucker dress and the Floral Jumpsuit while Jimmy totally needs a few more T’s, the Hooded Towelling Playsuit and the joggers. And THEN… There’s the swimwear (LOVE it this year of course)! And futher STILL… The unisex things which they both need so that they can match; the Buckle Shoes in their up to date sizes, the long socks, this year’s hooded macs, matching PJ’s and the adorable balloon print hooded sweatshirt which is super ace! I feel another shop may be imminent!
All the clothes pictured in this post are by Little Bird By Jools from the 2015 Summer Range at Mothercare with the exception of a pair of long denim shorts from the Little Bird By Jools 2014 SummerRange and, my own retro Mothercare dungarees. The sandals in the pictures are both from the summer 2015 range at Startrite and you can see more of them here. I was not asked to write this post.
