Here in the Rocknrollerbaby household we are avid toy fans! Well, what household of two tinies isn’t! We love playing with toys but I have to say there are some truly bad ones out there in amongst all the goodies! I find it always pays to shop in trusted places and one of ours is the Early Learning Centre. We are big fans of lots of their ranges and could spend ages in their shops just having a play. In fact, when we’re in Norwich visiting my Mum where there’s not a tremendous amount of children’s entertainment, a trip to ELC is often just the ticket. I love how they have the toys out on the shop floor to play with. Now that’s a company whose sure of their product, I mean, you wouldn’t say try before you buy unless you were certain customer’s would be pleased with what they saw now would you!
We love HappyLand, we love their wooden food, we love their board games, dressing up outfits, sand and water play toys, musical instruments, story CD’s, letters for names on doors… They do everything in there don’t they!
Well, now they have a new range and guess what? We LOVE that too! Motor Town is utterly brilliant, as if we thought it might be anything less! Motor Town is a range of cars and other vehicles which have a cartoon likeness about them with their rounded edges and smiling faces, they are soft to touch and as well as regular favourites like diggers, police cars (and stations) and racing cars they have added a classic VW camper van and Beetle to the collection!
As well as the special VW models they have other special well-known makes of car including Lamborghini, Fiat and Mustang!
My little sister is a bit of a VW camper van fan so we couldn’t resist sending one to her and she loved it. She’s 12 so not really in the ‘play zone’ but she’s such a fan that she’s going to keep it as a little ornament. I can’t say Florence was particularly keen to part with it though!
I love the way the new Motor Town toys encourage small play. Aimed at 18m+ and Florence is just the right age to use the pick up truck, car transporter etc to play really imaginative games and she incorporates the range really nicely with her HappyLand toys too. She doesn’t seem to mind that they’re not exactly the same size and yesterday while her HappyLand people were waiting for a bus she was whizzing the Motor Town cars by as if on the road too. You might be forgiven for thinking that these toys are only for boys, they are cars after all and often girls aren’t particularly interested in them. Florence has well and truly quashed that theory however and really enjoys playing with them! Jimmy is also really interested in the toys and although they are recommended for a little above his age range I think that with supervision it’s fine and I’m happy for him to enjoy the cars. They are really soft and easy for him to hold or wheel along the floor and he likes the colours.
The first time we got the new Motor Town toys out and they were instantly a big hit. Not just with the children… A certain Daddy spent quite a bit of playing time with them too!
Florence really likes the car transporter and I think it might be her favourite of the whole collection. She likes the pick up truck too but often plays some quite imaginative games using the transporter and incorporates it into her other games and toy collections too.
Florence is rather keen on the car transporter by Motor Town!
Another favourite is the pick up truck!
Jimmy just likes the wheels and would play with all of them but he really, really likes the police station and fire station which both have helipads and a door which flips down with the push of the large button on top and provides a ramp with which the police car or fire engine can zoom out of. Jimmy is really keen on that and thumps away at the button so that he can see the vehicle whizz out!
Jimmy really likes the push button on top of the fire and police stations which makes the doors flip open and the vehicles whizz out!
The police station and fire station also have slides from the helipad that the vehicles can run down!
They’re great toys for boys and girls and I think enjoyable for a range of ages. Mine like playing with them on their own and together and they’re great fun!
We’re rather keen on the new Motor Town range, another ELC triumph!
I was not paid to write this post but was sent a collection of toys for the purpose of review.
