This year I finally did something with my appearance that I’ve been wanting to do for ages. I had minor cosmetic surgery to remove two moles from my face. I hated them and they made me feel self conscious so I took matters into my own hands and did something about it!
It was so easy and it got me thinking that there are so many little things which we can do to make ourselves feel better about the way we look. They don’t have to cost an arm and a leg and yet the results can be so dramatic. I’m not talking major surgery here, not even minor surgery but just non-surgical cosmetic procedures we might think would be mega expensive but which might actually be within our purse strings, like my mole removal just happened to be.
So, things I would do to change my appearance and things which might actually be easier than I think are, well of course the obvious, lose weight (that’s a given), get my hair blonde again instead of this browny mouse I’ve morphed into and sticking with the hair theme, I’d like to get rid of some of mine elsewhere!
Laser hair removal is safe and relatively pain free. It’s not something that would have been on my radar pre mole removal but now that I’ve had them done I think, why not? Let’s sort out other areas too! When I was younger I had an eating disorder which cause hair on my arms to grow more. It was my bodies way of keeping me warmer and as I got thinner the hair got more. I may have fattened up since then but unfortunately, as with lots of the side effects of the damage I inflicted upon myself, the hair has stayed.
Because it’s on my arms I simply cannot shave it off and waxing isn’t really an option either as it would just grow back! Something like hair removal laser is cheap, permanent and would absolutely make a difference to the way I feel about myself! I am often conscious of the hair on my arms just as I was the moles on my face and knowing that there is an inexpensive solution makes me definitely interested in trying it!
We’re talking permanent hair removal here, not something which will need treating again and again and when you think you could have your bikini line, chin AND upper arm done for something like £111 it just suddenly becomes attainable. Just over a hundred quid and yet another small but very there annoyance with my appearance could be gone!
Am I vain? Maybe a little but in 2013 why shouldn’t I be? I don’t HAVE to live with some of the things I don’t like because I can’t afford to sort them out and those things aren’t even big enough to be invasive or even uncomfortable in the sorting these days!
Having my moles removed was awesome and I don’t see any reason why next year I can’t do the other things that bug me! Like the weight, like the hair colour and like the unwanted hair on my upper arms! Why ever not? It’s not like I want new boobs or a face lift after all – although I’m not certain I’m opposed to that totally either… But for now I’ll do the small stuff because sometimes it’s just the small stuff that makes the biggest differences!
