After our first Friday Night Treat Tea last week we have all been looking forward to another one and waiting for the long first full week of school to finish so that we could get on with our Princess themed tea!
This is what we had for our Princess treat tea today!
To drink I made a jug of water and dropped Vimto cordial ice cubes in the shapes of hearts into it. I also added edible glitter to the Vimto before freezing. As they melted they made the drink into Vimto squash and gave it a real sparkle! I used Ikea cups and curly Poundland straws to drink it from!
I tried to build a ‘Princess and the pea(s)’ bed with a layer of peas hidden under mashed potato, topped with Birds Eye fish fingers and then a rather dubious looking Princess made out of carrots. I may have to think of something slightly prettier to make the Princess if we do it again but the children didn’t mind and loved finding the peas under her bed!
Next we had melon (cut into a star shape) and blueberry fairy Princess wands which were just skewered onto a pick which came with the Princess cup cake cases (I used next) from Poundland. They were much prettier than my rubbish carroty Princess!
With those cup cake cases I baked some simple fairy cakes this morning and then made some paper Princess heads stuck to cocktail sticks to put in them ready to decorate with Jane Asher (good old Poundland again) icing, sprinkles and edible glitter. I let the children colour the Princesses in and then let them loose with the cake decorations (I obviously did one to show them what to do and not because I had fun decorating myself)! They absolutely loved decorating the Princess skirts and ate loads of little cakes before having a bath with a green (pea) bath bomb in it from Lush!
A lovely and well deserved Princess Tea!
I have been informed that the desired theme for next week is ‘Hello Kitty’. I’d better get my thinking cap on!
I love this idea and so would my girls xxx
