Roarr Dinosaur Adventure – Egg-cellent Easter!

When we visited Roarr in February we’d not been for a really long time and much had changed meaning we had absolutely no idea that the park was so brilliant these days! We actually can get in half price with our annual Banham Zoo passes (bit of a perk) yet hadn’t made use of that offer and I decided that we absolutely must do so going forwards – especially when the weather picks up because they have the most glorious looking water play splash zone which we’d never been able to take advantage of on account of always visiting in winter!

I also made the note that arriving earlier in the day is a must. Last time I’d decided to have a lazy morning and we didn’t arrive until noon missing so much having to race around fitting as much in as we could. There’d have been no way of fitting in the Predator High Ropes or Dippy’s Splash Zone if they had been open in February so for our Easter Holiday visit I planned on maximising our visit to give ourselves ALL the hours there! We arrived at 10.30 yesterday morning which is early for me and met our friends at the gate!

The big kids were so excited to be going with pals from school!

The Predator High Ropes is where we began our day – they have been a bit of a nemesis for me as we were invited to the opening and couldn’t go and then on our last visit they were closed for the season. The kiddos have been champing at the bit to get on them and finally got their turn meaning they were incredibly pleased with themselves. It’s hard work and a little bit scary but super fun (I did it too while chanting to myself ‘don’t look down’!) and actually, can you believe it, totally included in the ticket price. We go to SO many places (including Banham Zoo which we love) where these sorts of things are an added extra and I’m afraid after paying to get into somewhere I more than often will say no because it’s just not possible to factor in that kind of cost. I thoroughly champion the attractions which are ‘all in’ and this feature of Roarr gets a massive thumbs up from me! I’d say it’s every bit as good as Go Ape which you’d pay £20 a head for at least and yet this all comes as part of the entry – I would actually opt to come here for the day and do high ropes instead of going somewhere specifically for a similar activity because entry cost of the park is way cheaper and then you have everything else to do as well. I loved it (and so did the kiddos)!

There’s not many pictures of us doing high ropes because you couldn’t take a mobile phone on (and I’d have been too scared to let go for long enough to take a snap) but here’s Florence harnessed up and ready to go!
She was able to go off round on her own whereas Jimmy needed an adult with him due to height restrictions – yet he proved to be a whizz and went round faster than anyone else! I didn’t manage to get him staying still long enough for a picture but Florence dutifully posed!
And LOVED the zip wire at the end!

ROCKNROLLER BABY’S PREDATOR HIGH ROPES NOTES:

  • You have to be over 1m to play and if you are under 1,2m an adult must accompany!
  • Wear long hair tied back (take a band – we didn’t but another guest rescued us), trousers (no skirts or dresses), covered thighs and shoulders and closed shoes only!
  • There are three lanes with three and four route options – you can opt to stay on the middle row only or go right to the top!
  • It takes a slower participant about 15 minutes to complete the course while it took Jimmy about 3!
  • Top Tip: Go right at the beginning of the day – we did and there was NO queue, by the afternoon the queue was big!
  • Admission is included in your park entry and actually the price of entry is worth it for the Predator High Ropes alone (in my opinion)!

Everything else in the park is also included in the ticket price (aside from a safari ride over the fields which costs £2 – we didn’t do it) from the Go Karts to the extensive play areas, dino trails and secret animal garden. There is also a massive soft play which makes a very inviting reverie on cold days and well and truly wears the little people out for the way home. On both of our recent visits we have finished the day off in there and it’s been great to just sit down and watch from my point of view while still keeping them entertained! And… There’s now a new soft play that has opened up just for the super tiny tots called Dippy-Ville and it’s a little bit more than your average baby soft play with interactive digital floor games, a beam and wall activities. Again there’s a place to sit and drink a brew while the children go wild this was the perfect play space for Raffie but perhaps not so much the big kids. It’s one for mums of tiny tots to take a break as you can see the babes playing while you sit. There’s a baby area inside the bigger Dinomite soft play which works better for us as it has something for all the little ones in our family but this newer one for extra small people will be better for school days when I’m just with Raffie!

Down in the secret animal garden!
Mesmerised by the animal I can’t stand looking at – turkeys, shudder!
Meeting chicks!
And dinosaurs!
Outdoor Go Karts!
And indoor!
The new soft play area is geared up for the extra littles!
While the big one has something for babies AND big kids!
There is SO much to do and the play areas are just brilliant – we still didn’t have time to do it all!
Though we gave it a really good try!
We had a super day with super pals!

Now I have to mention Dippy’s Splash Zone! The water fun may now be open for the season but no one informed the weather front that we wanted to be in our swimming costumes outside this Easter. A cool, chilly day did not invite me but the children are clearly nutters as they were right in there as soon as there was even the merest hint of sunshine breaking a cloud. I guess they’ve longingly looked at the zone in the depths of winter and saw any kind of sunshine as a green light. The chap manning the area was a bit surprised but dutifully turned on the water and our gang got stuck in! However, it WAS chilly so they didn’t stay in the water long – I see that as an excuse to go back for more very soon!

Absolute nutter!
But Florence and our friends stayed in far longer than Jimmy it has to be said

Warming up let’s not forget that it is the Easter holidays and that means they’ve had to make things even more egg-cellent! From the 8th to the 22nd of April join Dippy and the Easter Bunny in their Dippy in Wonderland event which will take you down the rabbit hole into scenes straight from the Lewis Carrol tale! We enjoyed lots of fun Easter activities and having tea with the Mad Hatter as well as taking part in the young adventurers challenge to win one of the new medals! We saw the Queen of Hearts and she (he) was super funny – the children enjoyed that a lot!

We had another crazy but great day at Roarr Dinosaur Adventure and are keeping our fingers crossed for super sunshine on our next visit so that we don’t become the talk of the park for ‘being the nutters in the water play’!

It’s worth noting that Roarr now operates a height chart for admission prices rather than prices being based on age. They also have a new staggered annual price membership which means you could go for unlimited or choose a 10 or 25 day pass which might work better of you love it but live a little bit further away like we do.

He makes it look warm doesn’t he – it wasn’t!

We were invited to Roarr Dinosaur Adventure as guests of the park.
