I love summer! Who doesn’t? Sunshine, being outside, beach trips, picnics, long days and balmy nights and best of all… BBQ’s! I love BBQ’s, if you don’t believe me ask my Mum, she’s been known to do one for me in October because I’ve pestered so much when we’re staying!
I’m VERY particular about my barbies though! I don’t like them cooked on electric (it doesn’t taste the same) and I MUST have Sainsbury’s hot and spicy chicken wings! I love them so much that my Mum even buys them in bulk now and freezes them in her chest freezer for me! (She hasn’t realised this just gives me scope from October BBQ’s obviously!)
So… I was very interested to attend the Sainsbury’s spring/summer show today with my pal Carolynne from Mummy Endeavors and find out what they have vis a vis BBQ’s for this year! You see we have to go out of our way to get to the Sainsbury’s for the wings so we inevitably end up buying all of our BBQ food from there; it’s always been yummy in the past so I wanted to make sure this year promised to be up to usual standards! I can report that it does!
They didn’t have any wings to try today (worst luck) but they assure me they’re going to be back and this time they’re also producing a half and half pack with one side hot and spicy and the other completely mild so that one pack can suit all tastes! I also thought the sausages, burgers and kebabs that we did get to try were delicious! I especially liked the curry sausage which I would never have bought from the description but will definitely be putting in my basket now! And I LOVED the salmon burgers too!
The BBQ range was especially nice today and I’ve been assured my wings will be back on the shelves soon too!
It wasn’t just the BBQ range that took my eye, for summer is, I have to admit, more than a BBQ… The outdoor toys for children were fab and Jimmy had lots of fun playing with them. I like the wooden croquet set for £12! Florence was at nursery but I so wish I’d taken her with me as they had a whole craft table with their crafty packs which are all under a fiver. We often pick one up when we’re in store and they’re fab! I love the Easter stuff for crafts especially the Easter bonnets and I know Florence would have just LOVED the princess castle to build and kite to paint!
The rest of the food was pretty special too! They are bringing out a whole new mix and match salad range which is AWESOME and for just 50p you can zhoosh up your leaves with differently flavoured dried seeds and beans; to go with that there is a new range of dressings! I LOVED the sweet chilli one!
We also like the picnic sets and matching paper bunting, plates, bowls, cups and straws! Jimmy is having a Teddy Bear’s Picnic for his 2nd birthday in May and these would be perfect!
Take a look at our video to see how yummy, gorgeous and summer fabulous the whole range is! Check out the AMAZING cakes, especially the ones shaped like fish!
And when we got home we went to pick Florence up from nursery. She immediately rifled through my goodie bag and got her paws on the new Eric The Elephant potato snacks! I think we can safely say they were a hit and please Sainsbury’s, hurry up and get them on the shelves, we need more!
Jimmy tested out the toys at the event and Eric The Elephant potato snacks are yummy says Florence!
Thanks for a fab day Sainsbury’s, I’m SO in the mood for summer now!
I was invited to the press preview of the Sainsbury’s spring/summer 14 range.
