School Socks For The Spring Win!
It might feel like a love of socks hits you as you get older but, cast your mind back to the 80s when SockShop was at first all the rage and you, like me, will probably find yourself reminiscing about being a sock lover for a very long time. SockShop was one of the most fashionable places to buy you, well, socks actually, when I was a kid and my friends and I absolutely loved having a branded pair, not to mention one of their fantastic bags to carry them home in when a new purchase had been made!
Yep, it’s true, now as an adult the stocking fodder of choice is a pair of socks but with SockShop they never have to be boring and the excitement of a new pair should be just as it was back in the day for SockShop, unsurprisingly, do socks really rather well and have pairs for every occasion! Who love SockShop just as much as my friends and I did when we were young. Of course it’s nearly sock season too and no kid wants to be seen in the spring and summer terms without their socks pulled up!
School Socks are where it’s at and with socks in general making a massive leap in the realms of fashion it’s easy to see why kids want the very best. Wearing a uniform all day every day (unlike when I was my kids ages) has its advantages in terms of everyone looking the same and fewer scopes for bullying but it also suppresses a little expression and that’s where a tiny element can be injected by wearing the right, yet appropriate, socks.
For Florence, my high school girl, it’s really important to look a certain way but her uniform is rightly very strict. She cannot wear socks in until the summer term and has to wear tights whatever the weather yet finding tights to fit her correctly is kind of hard. The bamboo ones from SockShop are perfect as they fit her in the right age range whereas other tights we’ve found on the high street are either thick woollen ones mainly aimed at very little girls or they have to be adult tights which are way too big. Bamboo ones in the right size for her are not only comfortable because they are the right proportions but they also keep her warm when it’s a cooler day and cool when the sun is shining. Perfect, especially as they look how she wants them to look as well!
Jimmy is also very exacting when it comes to socks for school – they have to be just right and for some inexplicable reason he likes to wear them pulled up as high as they will go. Him and all his mates… His uniform is less constricted and colour is the only real stipulation. Again SockShop have ones which are just right for him and again I love the bamboo because of the qualities in different temperatures – we never can be too sure what our weather will be like, even in the so-called summer! I love that lots of the socks have amazing deals too – 5 pairs of the ones Jimmy likes for £4.99 and you can’t say fairer than that. They have a comfort cuff and smooth toe seams which is also excellent if you have sensory issues – Jimmy doesn’t on the whole but funnily enough when it comes to socks he really does. Jimmy likes his feet to feel free and removes them as soon as he can finding them a real bother at school but this style definitely suits him most!
