Summer Holidays 2020 – Week Four!

Ok, I don’t like it now that we are officially over half way as it always feels like a countdown to the end… I have to try and blot that from my mind though as we are having the most tremendous time. This past week we went camping, ate lots of yummy food, saw great friends, went to the beach and just soaked up the good weather (and the bad – this is the UK after all) and had fun. Oh please more of the same. Please let us not slip back into dangerous territory for another lockdown. I am starting to enjoy this normal so much and long may it continue!

Here’s our best bits from the week – I am so aware that ordinarily we’d be Spain bound at this point in a normal summer holiday and while it is super sad that we can’t go this year we are very definitely making the best of it!

Monday we went camping but stopped on the way for something to eat at the Buck in Blickling – great food forgave (just) the terribly rude staff!
Tent up – we went to Deersglade near Cromer!
And a bike ride took us to another pub, the Crown at Banningham which by contrast to the day had LOVELY staff but pretty average food!
Raffie liked his though!
A night of camping was fab – great in fact! Our new air tent an absolute dream with black out bedrooms that had everyone asleep until 8am!
Breakfast on Tuesday was super fun!
Bacon and eggs too!
And despite Florence’s attire the weather was beyond hot. BEYOND, even early in the morning!
My column came out in the EDP on Tuesday – all about camping!
And we had to head to the beach after an abandoned bike ride because it was TOO hot!
We went to West Runton!
With Florence of Arabia!
Hunted for hag stones and sea glass!
Jumped off rocks, swam in the sea and had the most amazing time!
It was like being in the Med!
So lovely!
The evening saw us head to The Pigs in Edgefield which was not great either! Terribly snooty staff and pretty awful food. The playground was nice but we won’t be back which is a shame as have loved it on previous visits but it’s been about 3 years!
We wanted to stay longer but there was no room! Gutted!
We were all a bit sad to pack up!
But we spent Wednesday on the beach regardless and it felt SO good. This time at Walcott!
Such a proper holiday vibe – weren’t we lucky!
And in the evening we headed to our fave Cromer for fish and chips on the beach!
Dining with a view and it was perfect!
The whole holiday was perfect in fact!
I didn’t take any pictures on Thursday as I was recovering from camping – turns out being pregnant is a bit tiring at times, who knew? But we made up for a lack of anything happening that day by filling our boots on Friday with a visit from Katy and gang – they drove a 358 mile round trip just to sit on the beach with us all day – aren’t they fab!
Biggest went surfing!
Mediums went hag stone collecting!
Littlest learned what it’s really like to be British on the beach in summer as opposed to his uncharacteristic exposure to a sunshine beach earlier in the week!
And they all had bloody good fun even if it meant they needed to drink hot chocolate in between swims!
And the biggest of the lot had fun too!
Saturday we went to JR’s in North Walsham which was mega fun! Bowling (first day it’s opened in the country for bowling), American diner and play! Brilliant!
Kiddos had loads of fun in the maize maze!
And in the restaurant, it was all great!
It was a slumber party movie night when we got home!
Sunday my column in the Daily Star came out whichFlorence and I picked up after an early morning swim!
And then it was time for me to catch up on lots of my blog work, pictires, editing and writing – it’s a tough job but someone has to eat all the gifted American snacks – thanks Just Get Snacked!
