We have a Poundland on our high street and I’ve actually cited it as being on of the things I’m going to miss most when we move. Yes I know there will be a Poundland in Norwich but there’s nothing quite like having one on your doorstep.
Run out of milk? Poundland! Need a bribe toy? Poundland! Baking cakes and need gorgeous decorations? Poundland!
I pop into Poundland every day and it’s amazing what you can pick up for a quid!
Toilet paper, sun cream, shampoo, baby wash, chocolate, fun toys for treats, DVDs, birthday cards, wrapping paper, novelty decorations, sweets, toothbrushes… These are just a few of the things that I have picked up recently and in July I went to their Christmas show and can confirm that as the seasons change, everything is looking fun and fab at Poundland! They’re going to have a selfie stick would you believe?! FOR A POUND!
But it’s nowhere near Christmas right now and their summer range is absolutely perfect for this weather! We bought lots of fun novelty things to take to Camp Bestival with us, things like ribbon twirlers and toy bow and arrows as well as lots of yummy treats. The children loved them so much, not just my own but all of the little ones in my camp so now that we’re home I’ve been and bought more fun toys for the garden so that we can enjoy them at home!
I went to Poundland (in Norwich and actually, it’s way bigger than my one at home – maybe a move here won’t be too bad then) and spent about fifteen pounds but got absolutely loads (well, fifteen things of course) to have a fun summer day at home. That’s way cheaper than going out somewhere and the children had a brilliant time with all the water fun toys that I bought and that will last for other sunny days in the garden to come. I also picked myself up a fitness DVD in a last ditch attempt at getting bikini ready before my holiday… Well, it was only a quid, if I don’t use it it doesn’t REALLY matter! I can always find other useful exercises for free on totalshape.com. I now my way around a Poundland pretty well and know where I’m going but it’s always worth perusing the aisles for any new bargains they might have. I couldn’t believe this store had reconditioned CD’s which have been pre-owned but restored to their original standard. What a buy some of the albums were!
We did play with the water toys for most of the day but Florence loves to bake with me so I wanted to make some cakes with her too. I think the Jane Asher range is excellent and am always using things from it. The decorations are often on a two for one offer which makes them even better value and things like the cake tins and boxes are just so worth it. Whenever I bake something for school I never seem to get my cake tubs back so using one from Poundland is the ideal choice as I can just buy another one. We made some mini Victoria sponges and used the piping bags from the Jane Asher range to make the jam and cream look really pretty in them.
The perfect summer’s day topped off with a truly British cake to be enjoyed in the sunshine! Perfect…
We have written this post as entry to the Poundland summer ambassadorship programme.
