Today the sun has finally been shining with some actual heat behind it. Not just wintry sunshine which fools you into wearing a less substantial coat before you end up freezing in its bitterness but actual bona fide glorious sunshine.
I left the house with just a cape on and turned my face towards the vitamin rays with a smile I couldn’t help. While I love winter fashions and revel in the weather taking a turn for thick black tights and boots, I am ready now for it to turn the other way, Spring is in the air and my new seasonal wardrobe needs to be purchased.
I’m off to London next week with a group of amazing colleagues and we shall be taking to the streets for an Instagram walk. I need to dress for the occasion and today has totally inspired me to buy something new. I adore dresses in the spring, ones which can be worn through the summer and taken into Autumn too and I found a fantastic one is Esprit which would fit the bill perfectly. 100% cotton with an A-line skirt and buttons all down the middle making it a bit of a shirt dress but with a very definite 70s edge. It reminds of pictures I’ve seen of Carole King (a fave of mine) back in the day and I LOVE it. With a £55 price tag I love it even more! But… If I’m going to buy a new dress then I definitely need some new accessories to go with it. I’m LOVING gold jewellery at the moment and Alex Monroe has this gorgeous Bianchi Bicycle Necklace for £168.
And one accessory is not enough for a new dress by any stretch! while perusing the Esprit website I found this gorgeous reversible canvas cotton shopper for £45. I adore a HUGE tote and this one is perfect for a day in town with enough room for my camera and the kitchen sink. I always think a HUGE bag like this is the best bag for mums because without scream practicality it actually is and yet it looks ace too. Well done again Esprit! To go with the bag I’ve chosen some sunnies from Miu Miu at Selfridges (£224 – OWCH) and some Doc Martens from Schuh as they’re so comfy to walk in.
So that’s what I want to start my spring wardrobe off with! Despite the 70s vibes in the dress I think it’s a little bit 90s which was MY era. No wonder I’m loving on this style again! What will you be wearing now that sunshine is very almost here to stay?!
