I’m no Star Wars know it all myself, I’ve never seen any of the films either and despite having a cat named Hoth Whomper after some sort of ice creature from The Empire Strikes Back (by a friend of mine), none of it has ever really interested me. Until now, when it still doesn’t REALLY interest ME as such but it takes my little boy’s attention well and truly so I can’t help but become attached.
My husband too is a massive fan and when Jimmy found out that Daddy had a trilogy box set lent to his nephew, weeks ensued of ‘Daddy, have you got the Star Wars DVD back yet?’ with such regularity that I thought I might implode before demanding that Daddy go and get the DVD back from his sister’s house immediately! And that… Well, that was the finishing touch to the Star Wars obsession. If he’d been into it before then really I’d seen nothing because the film took his attention exhaustively!
And so for Christmas… What would this little ‘Dark Fadar’ fan of mine ask for I wonder… Well, he has the outfit. And the light sabre. It’s the right one for Dath I know. I spent AGES in the shop debating with the shop assistant which one was best and which one Darth would actually use compared to which one he uses in the third second of the first film during scene 12 (I may have exaggerated slightly there but you get my drift) so what else would he like because I KNOW there will have to be some sort of Star Wars related gifting going on for him this Yule?
Well, I wonder if there could be anything higher on his list than the R2-D2 remote controlled robotic droid? With his walking and spinning actions R2-D2 responds to pre-programmed instructions via the remote control, moving in all directions as it makes original movie sound effects and moves its head. Jimmy would LOVE that shizzle, he’s be bug eyes and it’d keep him crazy busy for hours!
Or… Perhaps he’d like the U-Command Interactive BB-8, the astromech droid from Star Wars™ Episode VII – The Force Awakens… Again using a remote control (what kid, big or small doesn’t get a kick out of a remote controlled something?!) send him forwards, into reverse, left or right, plus get him rolling and spinning! BB-8 has over 20 original droid-speak phrases, plus special pre-programmed actions with different moods – happy, sad, excited, worried, scared and frustrated. What’s more, BB-8 makes different sound effects while his head moves, and a voice activated feature allows you to interact with him via a built-in microphone. Actually, out of the two, would Jimmy prefer this one? I’m not sure he could choose actually!
I guess I’ll have to show him the advert and gauge which one gives him the biggest Star Wars eyes!
Look, I’m not a Star Warns fan personally but even I can see these would be the absolute hit for Christmas! Aren’t they just fabulous! I just know that the real ‘Dark Fadar’ will think they’re amazing!
And… Do you remember I mentioned you could win an R2-D2 just like the ones shown in this post?
