Top Houston Restaurants Participating in The Black Restaurant Week 2022

Black Restaurant Week focuses on black-owned eateries to help them showcase their culinary skills. It also offers participants exposure to the lovers of cuisines from around the globe.

Houston is one of the first places where the event started, and below are some fantastic restaurants registered in 2022.

Craft Burger

Shannen Tune, the owner of Craft Burger, is also participating in the Houston Black restaurant week, boasting of winning the Food Network’s Chopped competition. He is also about to join his fourth Black Eatery Owners week.

The restaurant is famous for fried chicken, fries, and bacon BBQ, and you can visit for a taste of natural gourmet and other meals. There is also Carolina-style barbecue sauce, which you can try on your smoked bacon.

Alfreda’s Soul Food

The Alfreda’s Soul Food restaurant has existed for over half a century spreading love through special meals. You can find it in Third Ward, Museum District, if you are craving a bite of delightful cuisines that feel like home.

Not only is it participating in the Black Restaurant Week, but it is also one of the top five Soul Food restaurants in Houston.

Fainmous BBQ

Tennessee-style smoked beef is one of the favorites to order at Fainmous BBQ. The hotel was previously at Westbury and later moved to Sawyer Yards about two years ago. You can order a BBQ sandwich here with flavored fries, pulled pork, sausages, brisket, and ribs.

Frenchy’s Chicken

Percy Creuzot started a black restaurant serving a family-owned fried chicken recipe. Currently, Frenchy’s chicken has about ten hotels in Houston still making the old recipe, Louisiana Creole, among other foods. If you walk into this restaurant, you can indulge in the 5 Wine combo, including five wings and side dishes of dirty rice, red beans, greens, and a choice drink.

Lucille’s

Chris Williams started Lucille’s in 2012 in honor of his grandmother Lucille B. Smith. The restaurant has been operating for years, serving Southern cuisine.

Chris also has a James Beard Award nomination this year, thanks to his culinary art. You will find the eatery in Houston Museum District, and guests love that it is spacious enough for outdoor dining.
