Give Florence a sticker book, something to colour in or make and do and she will be happy for literally hours! She is often given an activity book as a treat and one of the best brands there is as far as I’m concerned is Usborne.
Usborne Children’s Books make lots of ranges from hard back big books of children’s stories to the ‘That’s Not My…’ series which we also absolutely adore and have written about
They’re just super quality, the stickers are easy to use and it’s not just about grabbing a sticker and placing anywhere. Of course for a younger child they can stick the stickers wherever they like but as they get older they will see there can be a method. You can find the sticker pages and see which picture pages they correspond to. Then you can decorate the scene with the intended stickers while making it as individual as you like! Florence loves the ones where you can stick clothes on the people and very often deviates from the page she is meant to be on because she wants to be creative. I love this!
There is a Christmas selection of activity books too! They’re not all just sticker, sticker, sticker! Lots of them have games and colouring in to go with them too and lots of them offer an educational element or tell a story.
We were sent two books from the Christmas activity range to review, the ‘Dressing-Up Sticker Book Nativity Play’ and the ‘That’s Not My… Christmas Sticker and Colouring Book’. Two books I absolutely would have chosen and two books I think are utterly brilliant!

The Nativity book is fab because it tells the traditional nativity story in a very engaging way while providing activities and dressing up stickers along the way!

We’re not particularly religious but I think it’s important that everyone, no matter what religion, knows the story and knows what Christians believe and why Christmas is celebrated just as I think it’s important we have an understanding of all religions. This is a lovely and gentle way of telling the story and with the activities along the way is just up Florence’s street!
When it comes to the ‘That’s Not My…’ range of books Florence is probably a bit too old (although she does still love them and enjoys showing them to her brother too)! But the sticker book for Christmas is a bit more advanced than the traditional range and with colouring in and stickers it’s perfect for Florence! One of our favourite things in the books is finding the mouse on each page and he of course is in this book too!

There are quite a few activity books in the range including a calendar which is to be colored in each day and we rather like that too! Stocking fillers, presents in the run up to Christmas, something to keep the children occupied while lunch is being cooked or on the journey to the Grandparents on Christmas Eve… We love them and would use them for all of the above!
