Willows Farm Easter Eggstravaganza 2019!
Now that we don’t live in London anymore you might think it odd that we’d still travel to St Alban’s, a journey which used to be half an hour and is now nearer to two, just to go to a farm… But… Willows Farm isn’t just any old farm it has to be said and though we can’t just pop there for an off the cuff day out as we used to (more’s the pity) l, we do absolutely make the journey (and it’s well worth it) for their special events (which actually happen pretty often – the place is a chameleon) because somehow they just make everything perfect at every festive period and it would be thoroughly missed if we didn’t!
And while Christmas time at Willows is our favourite time of year, their Easter Eggstravaganza comes a close second – we can’t wait to go again this year and have planned to do it smack bang in the holidays as a special treat! The event, which sees the farm go all out (as per) with decorations and activities themed to Easter, runs from the 30th of March until the 22nd of April this year and just as with all their events, once inside everything is included in the ticket price! I love a ‘no hidden costs day’ and this is one of the best!
All the usual Willows fun like… Hang on… This is a mouthful as it’s MUCH:
Soft play, obstacle courses, outdoor play, Peter Rabbit play, Mr Tod’s Lair, Tristan the Runaway Tractor Ride, JCB play, fairground rides, bouncy castles and slides, trampolines, panning for gold, patting pets, feeding animals and more…
Is joined for Easter with, wait for it, another mouthful:
Easter egg hunt, meeting baby animals, cow milking demonstrations, Meet Peter Rabbit, Cotton Tail Bunny Hop Show, pig racing, Lilly Bobtail Food Search Show, Meet Benjamin Bunny, bottle feeding demo, Peter Rabbit’s Time to Shine Show, Meet Lily Bobtail, Meet Squirrel Nutkin and again… Loads more!
We have been invited to Willows Farm’s Easter Eggtravaganza as guests of the farm.
All of those things, which, in our experience, are impossible to do all of in one day, make this an absolutely packed the rafters fun family day out! The farm is also decorated from tip to toe with seasonal fodder making it brilliantly magical for the children.
I remember the first time we visited Willows at Easter and being absolutely blown away by how amazing it all is. We know what to expect now of course yet still they manage to get bigger and better and that tiny bit more impressive, excelling themselves, every single year! Don’t be out off by a high sounding ticket price (Children age 2+ £19, Adults £18, Seniors £17) – believe me this is a bargain! There is nothing aside from food to shell out for once inside and you will NOT hear the words ‘We’re bored’ not even once!
Top tips for a visit:
- Book in advance – it’s cheaper!
- Don’t take a picnic, buy food there, the paninis are inexpensive and delicious!
- Have lunch late and take it inside Woolly Jumpers soft play – this means kids are entertained and you will get a seat no problems!
- Take spare clothes as you will want to get stuck into everything and it can get muddy on wetter days!
- Choose the things that are really important to you and do them first then attempt the rest. If you don’t do this you might miss something you were looking forward to as distractions are high!
- Don’t overlook the farmyard – it’s easy to with all the other fun on offer but the year round animals who live there are glorious, we like the llamas best!
- Don’t miss out on some of the smaller things by being distracted by the big. Some of them, like ‘Captain Chicken’s Egg Dodge’ (above Woolly Jumpers) are fantastic but easy to overlook!
- Have a look in the gift shop at the end because they have some truly lovely things – it’s not one to hustle the kids through quick to avoid buying a load of stuff you don’t want!
- Take a flask if it’s cold – the tea and coffee is good but the queues are often strong even though there never seems to be any for the rides and fun!
- Don’t be afraid to let the children run wild. It’s extremely safe and though the park is big it’s very open. I find sitting at the top and looking down I can let my big two roam the outdoor play and farm on their own and still keep them in sight!
So… We’re looking forward to our visit next week where you can follow me on Instagram @Rocknrollerbaby as I story my way around – have we whetted your appetite for an Easter day out at Willows?!
We have been invited for a day out at Willows in return for this pre promotion and some honest social media attention when we visit.
