When I first had Florence I didn’t know anyone else in my area who had children. It didn’t take long however to make some mummy friends at play groups. I think I had assumed that ‘mummy friends’ would be the people I hung out with while I had a baby and not really the people I continued to hang out with from choice later on. I couldn’t have been more wrong because the group of women I met are amazing. I don’t know if this is indicative of my area, luck or if everyone finds really good friends when they have children but the group of women I would now consider in my close circle are all wonderful!

Some of them have even moved away from the area yet we still keep in regular contact. One of those friends, Adriana, is who I want to talk about today. She is super glam and wonderfully exciting to talk to. She has taste like no one I’ve ever known and always has something exciting going on. I love to visit her house and see all the amazing things she has decorated it with. You have never seen a child’s birthday party until you have been to one of Adriana’s daughter’s bashes. Adriana designs and makes everything herself. From a walnut, painted silver on the inside, with a scroll inviting you to the party to the amazing decorations she hangs around her home, everything is perfection. Everything is just so beautiful when it comes to Adriana so it was never going to be a surprise to me when I found out that she was a very successful fashion designer back in her native Brazil!

And now Adriana has brought her wonderful taste and perfect eye to a new business here in the UK. She is designing the most exquisitely beautiful shoes for children which are then hand made by skilled artisans in Brazil. As with everything Adriana makes, they are perfect. They just are, she just knows, you know! Her new business is called Yaya Lala and is so named because in Brazilian colonial times Yaya (“Iaia”) was used to refer to a Lady or a Miss. And Lala is how her little girl named Clara calls herself.

We got to go and help her and Clara and some other friends play with the new shoes in the park! We fell in love with them instantly as I know you will too!

Aren’t they just amazingly beautiful! The girls had so much fun trying them on. They are hand made shoes, they are designed by Adriana and they are really something very special indeed. I have never seen little girls shoes as wonderfully pretty, well made or unique as this before.

I’m so incredibly proud of Adriana and her new business which also sells special shoes and treasures from other unique and hand made brands. Florence has a pair of the red leather sandals by French brand Théluto but I will talk about them in another post!

I want to stand up and cheer for my friend’s wonderful designs and tell the world about them. So here I am, doing just that!
