10 Years of George At Home!

10 Years of George At Home!

I remember being in Tunisia as a teenager and a market trader in the souk trying to entice me in with his “Asda prices”. The notion being, I suppose, that Asda was the cheapest option. And to go with it, perhaps not the most sophisticated of shops. But we’re talking a good 30 year’s ago since that experience and in the last three decades, while Asda has absolutely retained its inexpensive price tag, I’d say they’ve re-branded so completely, that when you imagine their George range, both home and clothing, I doubt you’d think anything other than of its brilliance. That is, of course, if you are familiar with it!

And you should be, because the clothing (in particular for children) is absolutely fantastic. I would even say that my very favourite dress of all time (for myself) is from George. Yep, just a supermarket dress (one that cost a fiver in the sale no less) and I’m excited to wear it again this year now that the weather has taken an Autumnal dip. It’s got these great puffy sleeves and is soft and velvety. I absolutely love it and even though it was three times its sale price to begin with, it would still be a fraction of the cost it looks like it might have possessed. Anyway, I digress, we’re not here to talk about Georg clothing. If we were I could be here all day. Instead we’re here to talk about the “home” range which last week celebrated 10 years in the making!

With its birthday comes whole new collection, which is just ripe for Halloweeny vibes and wintery nights drawing in. Of course, let’s not forget the new drop from Stacey Solomon which also launched in store just before the weekend!

I was invited to a big 10th birthday celebration to see some of the new pieces, indulge in a cocktail or 3 and wowsers I’m impressed!

The supermarket is now a one stop shop isn’t it, I know that for me I have no time to go shopping and so picking up everything from the kids uniform, to home decoration, comes when I’m going wild in the aisles. But the really great thing about choosing Asda, besides the incredible offerings and for this season there’s much. Mushrooms are abundant in their charms (move over pumpkin, although perhaps just join forces) and the design really is something else but actually, what they offer affordably is no just a one hit wonder. Decent, quality products at prices which may in the past have commanded not much thought to the aesthetic now invite a shopper to enjoy delightful things for their budget. It’s inclusive and that also seems to run freely with who they are as a company. Families and always at the forefront of their shopping experience, they put their money where their mouth is offering all children a hearty and delicious mean in their restaurants for just £1. No adult purchase necessary, just feed your kids a main meal and piece of fruit with a drink for this price every single day if you need to. This has been an on-going offer for nearly two years. They also give to charity in copious amounts, look after their staff, source responsibly and more, much more. If you’re looking for ethical shopping (again, you should be) then Asda, and by proxy choosing George, has your back!

We all deserve the opportunity to be able to afford lovely things which bring us joy and I found lot’s of lovely things which made me feel homely and happy. Here are some of my favourite things from the showcase.

I loved the fabrics and prints (mushrooms especially, can you tell?), while nothing felt very “Asda price” at all. In fact, it all looked beyond high end and yet still… Well, let’s just say the market traders in Tunisia can still use their hook, the prices are for those on a budget, as always this is important, but George quality is also one to be relied upon these days so the guys in the souk might just have to up their game magnificently on product if they want to complete!

Thanks for having me George!
