A Bit Of Me Time – Project B Review And Guest Post From The Lovely Carly!

This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

When I was pregnant with Florence I kind of assumed I’d make other Mum friends at my antenatal classes but when I turned up and looked round the room I couldn’t spy anyone who looked like I wanted to talk to them… I know it sounds rude but there just wasn’t anyone who grabbed me… Then in walked a girl about my age and she had the best smile! When her partner fell asleep during the VERY boring talk about walnuts and tummy sizes I KNEW I would be able to have a giggle with her so I basically stalked her until she became my friend!! (Actually my midwife phoned her and asked her if she wanted to be friends with me – I’m always telling you how special my midwife is!)

The lovely Carly is a teacher and a brilliant artist and is now having her second baby!! How exciting!! She has kindly agreed to be my ‘bump on the blog’ in order to review a new product especially designed to pamper and make you feel special every month during the big wait! She’s written it beautifully and made me laugh loads and project B boxes sound awesome!!

 A bit of Me Time

I’ve had a bit of an ‘arrrrggggh’ week.  The list of ‘to do’ things has been immense and when one thing is ticked off there is another there to take its place.  As a full time year one teacher, my Facebook status on Friday read ‘roll on tomorrow, because then I can sleep…’  I was being rather optimistic about that one though as with a 3 and a half year old, being almost five months pregnant and having a partner working nights, a GOOD night’s sleep is not on the cards.  And as for a lay in? Mums can only dream right?!

This week however came with a teeny bit of excitement.  I love a package, and a mystery one all the better. My delivery arrived from Project B on Tuesday and I was being optimistic in thinking I may have some quality time to investigate its contests within the next three days.  But that miracle time came when I drove my little one home from school on Friday.  She was soundo in the car and stayed that way when I picked her up and placed her in her comfy bed (all parents know this is no mean feat so I shall take a bow here).  A quick stare at her whilst she slept and then a rushed ‘eeek’ exit when she stirred to turn over and then I was jogging off to locate my package.  Me time was here!

‘Project-B is a brand new monthly box of wellbeing goodies designed to nurture the pregnancy journey of mum-to-be.  Working with some of the UK’s leading brands, and industry experts, each Project-B box is tailored to a month of pregnancy, supporting mum-to-be with helpful tips, information and products. The first Project-B box starts in Month 4 of pregnancy, with a further 6 boxes up to Month 10 – a congratulations box – once baby has arrived’ (quoted from the website)

First impressions

 The mystery package

Project B 11

As I opened the box and the lovely packaging!

Project B 4

The contents

The package consisted of a box and a separate orange tissue covered gift.  Very intriguing… I opened the box first.  Some information cards lay on top of the well packed tissue covered contents.  Putting the cards aside for a peruse later, I tore the tissue to reveal the other contents.  This is what I found…

Contents in order of personal interest (note the food first!)

Joe and Seph’s Gourmet Caramel and Sea Salt Air Popped Popcorn – the popcorn says ‘consume within 5 days’. It went in 5 minutes!  Delicious and a nice little reminder of my last pregnancy, when I was addicted to the stuff.  This is classy popcorn and the taste is fab.

Project B 5

Information Cards – as I munched my way through the popcorn I took the time to have a read.  There were four cards.  One about what to expect in pregnancy this month, one with a recipe, another with ideas of items to buy this month and another with some exercises that help during pregnancy.  I liked reading the’ what to expect when you’re expecting card’, because to be honest, it’s my second pregnancy and I don’t take the time to think too much about what the little mite is up to in there.  I don’t have the worries of the first pregnancy and kind of just get on with it and the bump comes along for the ride.  I suspect this is what it’s like for second borns even when they do arrive!  The recipe card has a very slim chance of being used as I am not much of a cook… but you never know, so it is placed on my dusty recipe book shelf.  The exercise card is placed on my fridge now to remind me of the all-important pelvic floors that I know I should be doing. The shopping card is good to read right then and there but of little interest beyond that.  Just the first three would have been enough I feel.  Perhaps a fourth card could be a message from the sender?  For example ‘you are looking stunning this month my lovely lady, Love from ? xx’

Project B 10

Mum Kind WOW Water Supplement – A small bottle was the next thing I looked at and discovered it was an additive for water which includes a nice taste and vitamins that boast of reducing tiredness.  Hmmn… sounds interesting.  I am rubbish at consuming water and am constantly searching for something to take this stinking taste out of mouth.  Worth a go.  It tasted ok actually and was placed in my bag to carry around with me as any attempt at reducing tiredness can’t hurt.

Project B 8

A ‘Super Drinks for Pregnancy’ Book (Found tissue wrapped in the separate package) – In contradiction to my previous statement, I am great at drinking but only in the sense of “I can drink you under the table sir.” Drinking water or juice in my everyday life just doesn’t seem to happen as often as it should (terrible to say in the grand scheme of the problems in the world but I am just being honest)  A book dedicated to creating interesting drinks is exactly what I needed and my daughter will find this fun to do too.  Finally a recipe book that I am likely to use!

Project B 9

Mum-to-be Stretch Mark Defense Body Oil – An oil for stretch marks.  I am very conscious of the weird stretch marks I received with my last bump.  I only got a few but they were only on one side.  None appeared on my belly but they were in strange places like one on the underside of by left boob and three on my left thigh?! I will definitely be using the oil…

Project B 6

Ginvera Green Tea Nude Cover BB Cream – as a bit of a nudist when it comes to beauty products or make up, the cream was the last thing I opened.  I love it.  It left my skin feeling refreshed and smooth and smelt nice too and just made my face look a bit classier to be honest.  Plus it has SPF 30 protection for added measure which is good, right?!

Project B 7

And to Sum up the Experience

What a nice treat and thinking about it and weighing up the contests, it is well worth £14, just for the book. I just felt happy really and a nice bit pampered as I sat with a sweaty face, un plucked eyebrows and a huge bump.  To receive a box monthly would be great and I’d see it as a lovely gesture from a relative or partner.
