Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom Dominoes Set!

Florence is and always has been a bit of a telly addict. I don’t mind her watching it because we always go out and do something every day as well so I figure when we’re at home its ok to have the box on. We’re all big TV fans in this house so it’d be pretty mean if I denied her the same! She has favourite programmes which change every so often but there are always two programmes that remain in her top choices without wavering! Both of them from the same creators, Astley Baker Davies. Those guys sure do know how to do popular children’s programmes and with the fan base being so huge they have obviously gone on to create merchandise to go with them which is also rather popular with us!

Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom is one of those two programmes on Florence’s favoured list and indeed both Ben Elf AND Princess Holly featured on her last birthday cake along with Peppa Pig and family and few other loved characters, that’s how popular it is with her! I know that if I give her anything Ben and Holly related that she will love it! It was with absolutely no problems then that I agreed to review the wooden dominoes set with characters from the show and when I showed them to Florence she couldn’t wait to play the game!

Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom Dominoes Set!

The Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom Dominoes Set is priced at £5.99 and I have to say its extremely good value. Florence is very interested in games and this one requires the skills of recognition and matching so it is well within her capabilities. It is fairly easy to understand the rules of dominoes but also quite skilful to be able to play and after a few games she has really got the hang of it. She now understands that if she doesn’t have a matching piece to that on the board she must knock her turn and wait for the next. She also understands that the winner is the first person to play all their dominoes. It’s a game which can be different each time as the lay out will change and it required good thinking skills. It is perfect for a three year old and because it can be played with just two it makes it an option for just her and I, some of her games need three people at least which can be tricky.

Playing the game!

Because the game has her favoured characters rather than numbers it is a little less difficult than regular dominoes as she would have to count the dots otherwise. The characters are instantly recognisable to her as she knows the show so well but even if she wasn’t a fan I am sure that she would be attracted to the bright and interesting pictures. The dominoes are made of wood and are nice and chunky for little hands to hold. They store away rather neatly in their own wooden box which is small and has a slide on lid and would be perfect to take on a holiday as well as playing at home. I also showed Florence how to make a Domino run which she thought was great fun and added an extra trick to the pony! All in all I can’t fault the game and based on play, price and quality I have to say it’s top notch!

I have not been paid to write this post but I was sent the product for the purpose of review.
