Don’t Get Roasted Bloody Mary Recipe With 31Dover!

Kicking off the new year with dry January might be perfect for some but not for me! Just like my shunning of making massive changes and declarations to be virtuous at all times, a sure fire way to fail knowing me, I have, instead, decided to just make better choices. So… I won’t drink to excess and definitely not every day and I will be choosing healthier options as well as eating less and moving more in general but to banish alcohol or certain foods just doesn’t work for me so… Here I am with the perfect gin cocktail for diving into the new year! IF excesses have been made in December then is is the perfect antidote (and also pretty perfect on a Sunday morning after a Saturday of the night before – IF you still have those moments when only the hair of the do will do. As a Mum of three those times are few and far between but a Bloody Mary is always the ticket even for an evening drink as far as I’m concerned and I love this recipe which uses Willem Barentz gin from my fave 31Dover who, as ever, have some amazing things on offer at the moment including non alcoholic spirits (yep, non alcoholic spirits) IF you ARE doing dry January – what to drink when you’re not drinking is something they know all about but thankfully they also know all about the good stuff too! Brilliant delivery service and fabulous for gifts (not just to yourself)!

‘Don’t Get Roasted Bloody Mary’

Ingredients:

2 x shots of Willem Barentz gin from 31Dover, a squeeze of lemon juice, 4 x teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce, a teaspoon of chili flakes, a teaspoon of cumin, a grind of salt and pepper, a teaspoon of horseradish, a splash of olive oil, ice cubes, 6 medium tomatoes and a stick of celery.

Method:

Make your tomato juice by blanching the tomatoes and peeling them before roasting in the oven with a drizzle of olive oil, the cumin, chili powder, salt and pepper and half of the Worcestershire sauce.  Roast for half an hour on a medium heat the transfer to a mixer and blend until smooth.

Mix the tomato juice you’ve made in a cocktail shaker with the gin, horseradish and ice and pour into high glasses before adding a stick of celery to garnish along with the rest of the Worcestershire sauce and a few more chili flakes! Et voila!
