Feet Firmly On The Floor!

Anyone with Instagram will know that the ONLY way to photograph your shoes is to find a nice floor, stand, point and shoot. I do realise that we are living in a very surreal world now where photographing our new shoes is an actual thing and it reminds me of that meme going around saying “I wonder what the 1995 me would make of this picture?” (Picture depicts a woman in a mask with a smart phone photographing an ice cream)!

I guess we are all consumed in this culture of photographing our every move now (I mean I say we all, my Mum isn’t but me…) and it now comes as second nature to buy new shoes and share them for the ‘Gram! OF COURSE!

Can you even call yourself a real person if you haven’t stood on a pretty floor taking pictures of your feet in shining new coverings?! Ha ha…

However… I think pretty colourful floors are overrated and while the rest of the internet stands on Moroccan tiles I am a firm believer of less is more. A simple wood flooring always works a treat for me. It’s like with anything, a good, simple foundation holds up the rest and if I stood on swirling patterns of technicolour then you simply wouldn’t see the beauty of the thing I’m actually showing off – the shoes!

My dancing feet in silver slippers of beauty on my wood flooring – it’s all you need!

I jest but it’s true. Less is always more and while it might look fab for a grid quare, living with multi patterned tiles throughout your living area might be a little bit too much at times. I like the simple, minimal living. My good floor foundations are a fab back drop for my frivolous picture taking of shoes but to live with they are even better and while you might not necessarily notice them as the main feature of my room, amongst the pretty painted brick work or the art on the walls, you would notice if they weren’t quite so beautifully keeping everything else looking good by being that foundation to the rest of the picture!

I believe a room starts with the flooring and you work your way up to make it show home perfect. And of course being the backbone and back drop to my Insta pictures is a mere bonus!

What are your floors like and do you dance on them as much as I do mine I wonder?!

Collaboration.
