Get Garden Ready For Summer Now!

I’m sure I read somewhere that the name of my village directly translated to boggy land, or similar, in old English, and even if it doesn’t, it should! Our garden is lush but man the grassed areas are a sunken, soggy mess at certain points in the year and though summer is lovely, the lawn is almost even unusable to walk on come wetter, colder months of the year. We persist though and with a lovely decked area and patio, the garden has been just about ok until now. This year however, we are wanting a complete re-vamp!

We moved to our sleepy little pocket of Norfolk after having spent 15 years in London and at the time any garden was a winner. We’d had no outdoor space whatsoever, so the thought of having somewhere for the kids to play, entertain with BBQs and sit in the sunshine was all welcome, we had no idea keeping grass in our particularly problematic area for such, would be quite the nightmare it is.

A lot of people around us have, for this very reason, been getting rid of their lawned areas entirely and hopping onto the smaller garden ideas even with a bigger area. One increasingly popular trend in outdoor balcony and decking spaces in urban apartments is the creative use of artificial grass. It’s a fun and inventive way to make the most of a space, with something soft and inviting underfoot to emulate a real garden lawn. Gardens around us which have just the same boggy soil that we do have caught onto this too and artificial lawns have been laid all around us, they look amazing!

This is definitely something that we are looking at to improve not just the aesthetic but the usability of our garden. This summer I want to see the garden looking its best and have ordered new furniture including a hanging egg chair from Aldi (it’s lush) and a new dining set which has multicoloured chairs, it would be such a shame to have the boggy lawn letting the side down!

The garden is getting ready for summer!

I just love having a garden, it’s wonderful to throw open bifold doors and feel like it’s an extension of the house, something you just can’t do when it looks a bit of a mess. I’m so looking forward to having family and friends come over and enjoy our space with us this year, the garden is going to look its best yet. All we need now is some sunshine!

Collaboration.
