Help Save the Children Make the World Better with a Sweater! This is what my invitation said when I opened the email last week. We were invited to come and have a special story time with Save the Children at their Woolly Wonderland station based in the Westfield Stratford shopping centre and learn more about a special project they have on…
So, what’s this Woolly Wonderland all about then?
On Friday 13th December 2013 Save the Children is calling upon people across the UK to help make the world better with a sweater and take part in the tradition of wearing a kitsch Christmas jumper in exchange for a £1 donation to raise money for its life saving work with children the world over. Save the Children has a whole raft of events planned to draw attention to the day and to get as many people as possible to sign up, pay their pound and pull on their pullover! Woolly Wonderland is going to be a hive of activities and events to take part in until the big day, Christmas Jumper Day!
So how can we help?
We found their Woolly Wonderland station, a lovely little area with carpets to sit on and we were treated to a very special story time with the Gruffalo! The children were thrilled!
The children enjoying story time!
Florence and Jimmy couldn’t believe their luck as the Gruffalo himself came out to say hello! What an amazing story time! Not only did he come out to say hello but he stayed for cuddles and photos – weren’t we lucky!
What lucky ducks!
There was a fab photo booth which we had lots of fun in with friends!
The children had a brilliant morning but we mustn’t ever forget how lucky our own children are and remember that there are lots of children in this world not quite so privileged… And this is where we can help…
My children along with those of Modern Mummy, An Essex Wife, New Mum On Line, Edspire and a few other lovely bloggers got to have a fab morning of fun but it’s so that we can help raise the profile of their charity and why they are fund raising!
Save The Children fight for children’s rights and are trying to abolish child poverty. They provide health care for poorly children and for those with HIV as well as protecting children who are being exploited or not properly cared for. There are starving children in this world, children with no chance of an education and children who won’t wake up on Christmas day to magic and love… Save The Children want to give all children a bright future and ALL children deserve that!
So help…
All you have to do is wear a sweater on December 13th, one reminiscent of Mark Darcy in Briget Jones and donate a pound for the privilege! What could be easier than that?! Oh, and until then, if you’re in Stratford you MUST pop in to Woolly Wonderland to have some fun with the little ones, it’s fab!
Don’t forget to wear your Christmas jumper on the 13th! And don’t forget to donate your pound to Save The Children!
