We went into half term with Posie falling foul to the sickness bug her sister and brothers had before her and unfortunately had to cancel the first of our plans which was friends coming to stay for the weekend. They are lovely friends however, and they came to see us just for lunch out while Gram did a bit of babysitting. Still not quite ourselves on the Sunday we just mooched about, Florence went to a sleepover and Raffie went to the shops to spend his birthday money – which he did in about 20 minutes! I’d envisaged hours of deliberation in Smyths Toys Superstore but nope, in and out – phew!
So after a slow start we eased ourselves in on Monday with a trip to the cinema before fully leaping into the fun from Tuesday with Wroxham Barns, Fairground Frights, Pensthorpe, Fire on the Water and then a Halloween party at ours on the Saturday. OBVIOUSLY it didn’t go without drama, there was another bout of sickness for Jimmy (he often goes in for round two poor poppet) and a very cut finger at Wroxham Barns which was entirely my fault during the pumpkin carving. They were very kind and said we could go back another day to finish the rides and fun we missed out on when we had to hot foot it to A&E with Raffie for some steri strips, oh my! So, finger on the mend and a Sunday funday back on the farm made us feel lucky the finger was sore but fixed and we got to play a bit more at one of our faves!
A lovely half term of fun and rest (not like us) as well as family time playing games, watching movies, swimming and all the usual stuff we busy ourselves with. Lucky Flobo has another week off and we have a few plans so I shall add some pictures to this post as we do them, especially the village trick or treating tonight which is always loads of fun!
We kicked off with a Halloween themed Friday Night Treat Tea for one as the others were wither out or down with the bug!Lovely friends visiting for lunch!Raffie spending his birthday money!Cinema time where we managed to see Hocus Pocus one and not Hocus Pocus two as we’d thought, was still great fun!The quad at the cinema!Bit of down time recreating pictures with the little two to match the big two!Posie!We cooked a LOT of pancakes!Wroxham Barns!Was lots of fun and the pumpkin patch was ace!We enjoyed the picking!And being outdoors!Always in the trailer with a satsuma!The maize maze trail was ace!Pumpkin carving was fun until we cut a finger!And ended up at A&E – but all was well thank goodness!
Fairground Frights was ace!Even if the big kids are terrified of rides!Met up with Cookie!The big kids got to bring a friend and go off for a bit on their own!Jimmy loved it!
Then it was time for Pensthorpe where we dodged the rain and arrived to blue skies!The weather has been so mild, it’s been lovely – especially with a nearly teenager who won’t wear a coat least of all a proper top!Lovely time and Gram came too!Lush!This puddle gave Gram heebies as Posie wasn’t wearing wellies!Cracking a smile together!My little two!
Fire on the water with besties!This year it was on Great Yarmouth beach! They just looked like they’ve been papped! Gorgeous! She was entranced! Marshamallows on the fire! Not worrying at all! Daddy on hand! Ready to do the dirty work! Despite her face she didn’t like it! The fire exhibits however! Jimmy was a nervous wreck worrying about Posie! Cheesy chips were a better bet but at £13 for two portions (small portions) of loaded fries this was the worst bit of the night! Lantern making! A big hit! For all! Raffie is always such a little crafter! And Jimmy spent such a long time too! A late night meant hitting the hay in our day clothes! Saturday was Norwich at home and the boys ran after one of the players to get a picture – I’d love to tell you who this is but I’d need to ask one of the boys and none are around. I want to say they’ve said Josh something? But I could be wrong! I do know that he’s American proving I do listen to bits of it!And then in the evening it was out Halloween party!With good friends to help us eat Gram’s cakes!Lots of party food!And fun!Cousins too!Apple bobbing!Cake decorating!Dress up!Taking it all very seriously!The flour game!Florence lost!Donuts on a string!Not using hands!A choreographed dance!The whole party team!Sparklers!No wonder they look exhausted at the end of the party!Posie wore the spider for the second year running!She follows in ALL her siblings spidery footsteps!My window though!Back to school for the boys on actual Halloween meant a spooky packed lunch!And a spooky tea!I may be a one trick pony but the tricks are good right?!Then one more dress up for trick or treat!Posie with a cold wasn’t sure!But we convinced her!Raff needed no convincing at all!He loved it!As did Florence and her friend!The little ones soon got into it!And Posie realised it was definitely worth the trip out for this many sweeties!Which she tucked into with gusto!From her tiny pumpkin bucket!
