Holiday Preparations And Saving Money!

This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

We’re going off on holiday for a long weekend and I’ve been busy trying to think of everything we need to take with us. As we’re self catering in this country I’m going to take a bit of food with us, breakfast cereal, tea bags and the like, just to save a bit of money. I think we’ll eat out in the evenings though, I mean we are on holiday after all! By the same token, eating out is a fairly pricey experience as a family of four so I am busy doing my research into the area and what restauraunts will be good.for us. I always, always look on the internet for discount codes and special offers! Time was when the thought of a coupon  would have only crossed my mind if thinking about my Grandma going shopping but times have changed and cutting out carefully sectioned areas in local newspapers is a thing of the past, all you have to do now is flash a promotional code on your phone or type it into an area in an on-line shopping basket – easy peasy!

So I’ve got the restaurants and the activities and the route all sorted, now I have to turn my mind to packing the bags – of course I have a mound of washing to get done and dry before I can physically pack. There’s five of us going (my Mum’s coming too) on a 3 hour drive in Colin the three door Corsa and to say space if of a premium is a bit of an understatement! We have to take our own towels too so even less room in the bags for clothes! Capsule wardrobes all round then. Easier said than done when the weather forecast is ‘tropical’, ‘rain’, ‘sunshine’, ‘overcast’, ‘windy’, ‘warm’ and ‘cold’ all in the space of four days! Oh to love the British weather!

I’m really, really looking forward to this holiday, it will be amazing and fun and full of activities! From that point of view it really doesn’t matter that there will be some rain! There’s also going to be a spa I can retreat to when my Mum says yes to a spot of baby sitting and I can’t wait! But the ‘sorting out’ before hand is annoying! Our next holiday after this one is going to be a fortnight on the Algarve! We will have a people carrier taxi take us to the airport and we’ve all booked the full luggage limit so I can pack to my hearts content – I find slim packing really very hard! For that holiday I’m even going to treat myself to some new clothes! It seems that everyone in this house has had some new togs recently but me! I’m thinking maxi dresses on the beach and a new black bikini! Oh I do love a black bikini and www.getthelabel.com have some fabulous ones at the moment, also, there’s a pretty good promotional code for them with NetVoucherCodes – happy days!

My Grandma and her coupon loving ways would be proud of me, well why not! You know, my Grandma once won a thousand pounds by scratching a free scratch card that came in her newspaper, you know the ones most people chuck away! My Grandma definitely knew about money and I’m more than happy to follow her lead with a voucher or twelve! Happy holidays!

Our last family holiday was in this country and required an awful lot of packing too!
