Norfolk Tulips!

Norfolk Tulips!

We visited Norfolk Tulips this year for the first time! I was very organised and put a reminder in my phone for the minute they were to go on sale. I had an idea of the date I wanted (Gram’s birthday) and I went in prepared. I was lucky and got through straight away so that we could all go and visit and help raise money for their charity while getting to take pictures in the fields.

It’s quite an unusual experience as it looks from the pictures like it would be very calm and serene. The reality is that there’s lots of people all trying to take perfect shots. There’s lots of bossing going on, I heard one woman say to her friend “follow me with the camera and make me look TALLER!” and when I offered to take one of the both of them to a man taking pictures of his pregnant partner, while he momentarily forgot his job and smiled as if it was a yes please, she barked “No, we’re fine!” and carried on shouting instructions at him. And yet, somehow, the pictures I took did all come out as if we’d been on a proper photo shoot and were the only ones there! It’s clearly a very photogenic spot and it doesn’t matter if you’ve no skill, or if the vibe isn’t quite what you want the pictures to be! The lighting and colours make it work!

I’d decided, because it was actually a rather cold day, that we wouldn’t take changes of clothes or bother too much with taking perfect pictures and yet I found that I love so many of the ones I snapped anyway! Maybe we’ll go again next year and it might be sunny! They had food vendors and ample toilets, it was a lovely way to spend a couple of hours mooching!
