Last year when Florence was at her school’s nursery she was chosen to play Mary. The most sought after role, or so I thought. When I’d been little I’d hankered after being chosen and never was so I was thrilled for Florence that for her very first nativity she was asked. However, Florence was not so pleased. The angels all got to wear tinsel in their hair and compared to the tea towel (it wasn’t actually but in her mind […]
Ok, so perhaps the title of this post seems like the prize is a LITTLE bit bigger than it is but… I am 100% giving away a BMW on the blog in the next week, it’s just of the toy variety rather than full sized that’s all! I think you’ll agree looking at the picture that it is just as sleek and just as cool (if you’re little) to drive though, so who DOESN’T want to win one, that’s what […]
I so wanted to like it, so looked forward to using it and I thought, assumed even, it was a given that the iCandy Rasberry would be superb… It is marketed as an ‘urban stroller’ and living in London myself I thought it sounded ideal. The iCandy website conjures up a picture by saying the raspberry is for ‘Hopping on and off buses, from cafés to cabs, up curbs and through the city, with its agile chassis, ease of fold and innovative, spacious […]
A friend of mine has told me about a pizza roll thing her husband makes with home made pizza dough and pesto and I keep meaning to get the recipe from her as it sounds delicious. I made some pizza dough the other day and decided to just give it a go with a bit of a wing and see what happened and the results were pretty good even if I do say so myself! I make pizza dough loads (bread […]
Some children’s theatre experiences can be less than entertaining for the grown ups it has to be said but when you go and see something adapted from a Julia Donaldson book you’re kind of safe in the knowledge that you’ll enjoy it despite your age… Much like her books with something fun and entertaining to grab the attention of all who read them, the theatre productions seem to capture the same magic and pass the stories onto the stage with great aplomb! There’s just […]
Last week Florence and I were kindly invited to Sadlers Wells to see Raymond Briggs’ ‘The Snowman’ live on stage. It was wonderful and such a perfect introduction into ballet. Florence has been moaning about going to her ballet classes but when she saw the little boy and all the snowmen dancing she said ‘I want to do that’ and is very firmly back into wanting to go which is brilliant. It was an amazing show with so much beauty and […]
Back in April I wrote about the Autumn/Winter 2014 collection from Startrite and now that winter is upon us these gorgeous gems have actually hit the shelves and we’ve been shopping! Florence chose her own winter boots and I think she’s done rather well don’t you?! I know exactly why she chose them, they’re purple and they have flowers on them so of course, but she was also rather pleased when the shop assistant at Russell & Bromley told her […]
We’ve been to see Stick Man Live On Stage in the West End every year and it honest and truthfully never, ever gets old. A friend of mine has done the same with her children and she said to me the other day that even when her children are grown up she still wants to go even if it means going on her own. She’d never have to of course because I’ll be going with her, there’s no way I’ll […]
Last Sunday the children and I were lucky enough to attend a multi media screening of the new movie Paddington. I’d seen much grumbling on social media because the new bear doesn’t (apparently) look like the old one as we know him but rankly, after watching the trailer, we couldn’t wait! We were invited by our friends at Warburtons who were providing marmalade sandwiches for all the guests and with both children in tow we set off for Leicester Square […]
Florence is turning five next month and has chosen (no surprises here) a ‘Frozen’ theme for her party. I have lots of things in mind for it from party food ideas and the cake (my Mum is on it) to the craft activity we will do (snowflake making and decorating), the disco and the goodie bags too. I LOVE organising a party and this one is such a super theme that I know everyone will love. I mean let’s face it, […]
