Review – Peppa Pig’s Surprise!

This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

Yesterday, for our annual festive get together with our friends at Modern Mummy, we kicked off the fun with a trip to see Peppa Pig live in her new show. Every year around this time I write about what’s new on stage from Peppa and every year I have lots to report as the creators do keep coming back with bigger and better ideas although after this latest offering I’m not sure how they will manage to top it!

Peppa Pig's Big Surprise 3

Peppa Pig’s Surprise has thoroughly changed the face of Peppa Pig as we know and love her on the stage and instead of the small puppets which have been used ever since the shows began, this time they are life size. I wasn’t too sure if I’d like it this way when I read the press release and felt a little sad not to see the really creative puppets I know of old but wow, I was wrong to be a skeptic because the show is even better for the new style!

One of my fave scenes from the show s the bath time! Bubble-tastic!

Take a look at the trailer and you’ll see how different this show has become with t he introduction of the new puppets. Somehow, it’s just made it feel a little bit real if that can possibly be imagined? Almost like we are IN an episode of the cartoon. It’s brilliant fun and literally every little mouth (and big one) gasped when the gigantic Daddy Pig waddled out onto the stage!

The story is totally new too as they do like to change it up and this means that despite having been to see Peppa live at least once in every year since Florence was 18 months old, we’ve never seen the same show twice. Thankfully they do keep a similar style and always, for instance, have an under water scene where everything goes dark and glow up and shining puppets make the audience oooh! This is always a highlight of every show and it wouldn’t be the same without it!

We had a brilliant time watching the show again this year and can report that it’s absolutely better than ever!

These faces say it all really!
In their seats!

The Christmas version of the show, which sees a little visit from Father Christmas before you leave, is on at the Duke of York’s Theatre near Leicester Square until the 17th of January. It’s well worth a festive visit but if you can’t catch the show just yet or can’t get to London then don’t worry, you don’t have to miss out. Peppa Pig’s Surprise is on tour until the end of 2016 so visit www.peppapiglive.com to find a show near to you, more information and to book tickets!

These three (and a fourth who didn't fancy a photograph) thought it was brilliant! We have two 3 year olds and two 6 (nearly) year olds and they all had a fab time despite the older two being over heard whispering before we went in that Peppa Pig is for babies. I think given the opportunity to go again or stay at home because she's 'too big' for Peppa now would be a no brainer of a choice for Florence who loved every second, joined in with all the songs and dances and shouted louder than her brither when it was time to participate!

Another thoroughly brilliant time at Peppa Pig Live! Brilliant new puppets, brilliant new storyline with fave characters including a life sized Mr Potato and a brilliant way to spend a festive morning in London!

We were guests of the show.
