Skip Hop Greenwich Back Pack and Hip Pack!

Changing bags were long off my agenda when I had Raffie! I bought them all when I had Florence and soon realised that what I really wanted simply wasn’t on the market because it was something practical that would fit a change of clothes, a gazillion nappies, wipes and food, food, food (for sure) but I also wanted something which made a statement about my own fashion style. And all I saw were either cupcakes, hearts and flowers in pinks and blues or utilitarian plain and neither were a piece of me! History tells me I need a bag that’s BIG but not so vast you can’t find anything in it because as a mum that renders it basically useless. Essentially I also wanted a bag which looked like a normal bag but housed a multitude of mummy/baby bits AND which worked practically for everything else I did, even when I was out without a baby in tow because no one likes the faff of changing bags and if they do they are mental. I mean WHO has the organisational skills for multi bagging their lives… Not a mum like me!

I have resorted to just creating my own bags in the past. Normal bags converted was obviously a compromise but not nearly as much of one as when I was trying to fit a ‘baby bag’ into the normal every day life and fit OTHER things aside from muslins in. I found it far easier to adapt bags myself although nothing was ideal. Not really…

What’s in a bag? I like a bag to go on the back, a bag which can hang on the buggy, a bag which has room and lots of pockets!

Obviously by the time I had my third baby and I wasn’t on the lookout for a changing bag at all. It just wasn’t on my radar having never found the perfect one but when Skip Hop asked if I’d like to try out their new Greenwich Backpack (£99) I was up for giving it a go. It looked uch more like the type of bag I would choose as a normal bag but promised all the baby bits too so why not give it a go. And… I’ve quickly found that it has replaced any other bags I’ve adapted myself to slot into my lifestyle much more easily and become a bit of a staple actually. It’s main PLUS for me (and there are a few) is that it has loops each side which attach to the buggy handle. I usually use a buggy clip for my own bags but actually that means they do swing about in the middle and sometimes if the buggy clip slips the whole bag slides down the side which is very annoying. Having a bag loop on each side is extremely handy and a great solution – simple but clever!

On the beach with my buggy and the Skip Hop bag attached to the handle bar. Sometimes having a bag on the handle (especially if filled to the brim like I like to make them) and it makes the buggy top heavy without a child in it but the distribution of weight in the way this attaches helps to eliminate that!
And when you have other gubbins to carry on the handle after a day out this one is a back pack which I find super helpful. I hate carrying bags on my shoulder!
The beauty of this bag is that it DOES contain places for bottles and the ever important changing mat (me and Raffie changing on a bench in a nature reserve, of course) but it’s not what takes up the bones of the bag and is all concealed in a secret pocket at the back!

I was also very kindly sent the Greenwich Hip Pack (I love that Americans call them a fanny pack) and I love that even more! I wear it all the time, at festivals, out with my mates… It obviously does fit nappies and wipes and a change of clothes but it also fits stuff for a night out with the girls and converts to a wrist strap bag or cross body bag if you don’t want to wear it around your waist. It’s great! A bum bag for mums!

Love the fanny pack (sorry HAVE to call it that now)!

Two great bags with mums in mind but actually ones which anyone could and would carry. And that’s the key isn’t it! We need all the practical because we are mums but why should we have to compromise on style?! Made from faux leather both have pockets and room galore! Perfect!

Love them both!

I was sent the Skip Hop Greenwich range as a gift to review.
