5 Tips On Tackling Your Spring Clean This Year

This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

It is important to keep our homes clean, not just so that they are places we enjoy spending time in and are happy to show off to our friends, but also to prevent allergens forming that can cause allergic reactions.

We may hoover weekly, wash our dishes daily and keep the loo spotless – but what about those tasks that we don’t often consider doing such as washing the curtains and cleaning all those nooks and crannies?

That is why a spring clean is the perfect opportunity to clean the house from top to bottom. But, you may find the thought of such a mammoth task a little daunting? If so, here are a few tips to help you tackle it this year.

  1. Make a to do list

Before you do anything, make a list of everything you need to do for each room such as washing the curtains, dusting the bookshelf, hoovering behind the sofa and so on. This may seem to make the process longer and you will probably just want to get started, but it will make your life much easier in the long run.
Not only will it keep you focused and organised, enabling you to tick off tasks as you go, you can also delegate! Share a few of the tasks with your partner, children or housemates – if you aren’t the only one who lives there, the job shouldn’t be entirely yours.

  1. Take it one room at a time

Don’t feel you have to do it all in one go – take your time! It is better to take a few days and do it properly than rush it in a few hours and do half a job. Take it a room at a time, then you will feel a sense of achievement as you complete each one. If you do a task around the whole house – such as hoovering or dusting – you could end up having to re-do it. This won’t save you any time; in fact it could end up taking twice as long!

  1. Work your way around the room

Choose a section of the room to start in and then work your way around it – this way you will not miss anything. If you keep getting distracted, you are likely to forget to do something.

  1. Create a bucket of cleaning supplies

Search through what you already have and purchase anything you need. The last thing you want is to keep stopping because you don’t have any glass cleaner! Fill a bucket with everything you need, then you can take it with you from room to room.

  1. Call in the experts!

If you are still not convinced you can tackle the task, or simply don’t have the time, then call in the experts and take advantage of a service such as Molly Maid Spring Cleaning. They will tackle all the jobs you don’t want to and leave your house shiny and sparkling! The thorough clean will include the removal of all contents and a complete clean of all kitchen units inside and out and the washing of all painted and commonly touched surfaces such as doors, walls, window frames and skirting boards.

You may also want to take this opportunity to declutter – throw out the rubbish, donate what you can and sell the rest – that way you aren’t wasting time cleaning anything you are only going to throw away at a later date.
