Summer Holidays 2020 – Week Two!

Feeling more in the groove of a post lockdown summer holiday I think we’ve nailed the fun now. We are having it, and enjoying days out but we are doing them more slowly than usual and with care. I would say instead of a day out every day we are being more relaxed, having more time at home, enjoying the low key as well as the all singing and just making the most of being away from school work.

Frankly I can’t believe that we are a fortnight down already and am feeling grateful that this year we have 7 weeks off rather than the usual 6. Time to recover and heal from the shock of all that lockdown brought and we have some fab things to come with two camping trips and a little staycation in Cambridge to look forward to. This week however, has involved trips and fun and friends and family. It’s looked a lot like this!

Monday was a wash out but we went to feed the ducks and picked some blackberries to boot!
They enjoyed the picking!
But the eating was a bit sour!
And while it was lovely to be by the lake!
The ducks and swans were more than a little terrifying as they surrounded us and made us feel like we were in a horror movie, ha ha! These smiles were before the stampede!
Tuesday we decided to pop to Eaton Park!
Primarily so that Florence could skate but it was PACKED so we gave the skate park a miss!
And we only stayed in the play area a little while but it was nice!
Wednesday was a trip to Great Yarmouth to the Time and Tide museum before it opens to the general public on Monday – museum pass holders and friends can go now and it was ace to be the only ones in there while we visited!
Weather was amazing though so we spent the afternoon on the beach after the museum – unplanned but brilliant!
I’m always beach bag ready in the car!
Florence found her zen!
And gave us a yoga lesson on the beach – which is, with the museum, the best thing about Great Yarmouth which is a hole! The armpit of Norfolk in my opinion!
But… The beach IS mighty fine!
Thursday HAD to be another beach day – this time with Gram! We hit Cromer!
Did some crabbing!
Played in the sea!
Frolicked on the beach!
Had a tasty tea!
And of course, an ice cream!
Friday was scorchio! The hottest day of the year so far and we stayed at home for some pool fun!
Sat in the shade a LOT!
And played in the pool!
A lot! We had a BBQ too!
And it was all bit too much for Raffie!
Saturday was a trip to Gressenhall before they open to everyone on Monday. Just like Time and Tide they were only open to members so it was very quiet, just us and one other couple who we barely saw! Raffie did his best Jimmy impression and followed his big brother around all day!
My Mum came with us which was lovely!
And though much of the museum is closed we had a nice day wandering around the grounds!
Sunday was a family bike ride day to Ketteringham Hall which this visit WAS open!
And my column came out in the Sunday Star – I have also had some exciting news regarding my writing so whatch this space!
