Swimming Dora From Fisher-Price!

We’ve had a lot of bath toys in our time. Some of them good and some of them, well, not so much but we enjoy playing in the bath so when we do find a gem we keep hold of it!

The very best bath toy we have ever played with, I assure you this is absolute truth, is the Fisher-Price Swimming Mermaid Dora which we have had for quite some time. Florence saw it on an advert and wanted it for a long time but I thought it probably wouldn’t be QUITE as good as it looked on television. In actual fact, it does work exactly as shown on TV. Really! And there are no batteries required. Simply sit her on the side of the bath, wind back her arms, press the button on her fin and she dives (yes, DIVES) into it and swims on her back off down the tub!

She really is lots of fun!

You HAVE to make sure her hair stays in its pony tail or she won’t work but it is very tightly done and Florence absolutely loves it! So does Jimmy actually! We keep her at my Mum’s, I’m not sure why, I think we were there at Christmas when Florence got her and so Dora made her home on my Mum’s bath side; we look forward to playing with her when we visit.

There’s a new version of the Swimming Mermaid Dora out and Fisher-Price asked me if I’d like to review it so of course I said yes please. New Dora is slightly different in how she works; wind her seashell necklace to make her swim and she also features colour-changing hair! She comes with a comb to brush warm water through her hair and watch as her hair-highlight (she has a streak of purple hair) changes to a pretty pink colour! Use icy cold water to change the highlight back to purple!

She works just as well as the original but is actually probably easier to use and of course this time she can have her hair played with which pleases little girls no end! As for the streak of hair changing colour, well that’s a fab idea and although the colour change is not terribly dramatic, it is obvious and extremely pleasing! This version is also smaller and easier to store which is always a great addition to a bath toy!

This toy works, is super fun and is easy to keep in good condition as no scope for mould getting stuck inside her! A great toy!
