The Boardroom And Eric’s Pizza At Yalm – Norwich!
The brilliantly vibrant food hall in the heart of Norwich, Yalm, is the place you can go as a group, but order individually from whichever restaurant you love most? We always have a mixture because we can never quite bring ourselves to only plump for one thing, but one of our family staples when we visit is Eric’s pizza. We love it so much, one time I went without the kiddos and had to order an extra one to bring home for them knowing they’d be over the moon with an after school treat of epic eric’s proportions!
And now there’s a new Boardroom games room at Yalm which to compliment the hall’s foodie charm, creates a destination for the whole outing’s entertainment, no need to go anywhere else! The Boardroom has that rare, brilliant energy where you walk in and instantly know you’re going to have a good time. My big kids (sixteen and fourteen) were practically vibrating with excitement before we’d even started, and because of their excitement, I thought this would be one of those “for the teens” outings. But by the end of the night I was already plotting a return trip with my little ones (children are welcome at Yalm always and before 7pm in the Boardroom too), because there’s something about the space which feels welcoming, playful, and totally family friendly. I can also absolutely see myself heading back on a girls’ night, because it has that perfect mix of fun, food, and a bit of friendly competition.
I’ll come onto the food in a moment because the Eric’s Pizza’s (what a treat) new snacking menu is a Chef’s kiss, but first, The Boardroom, let’s take a step inside!
The star of the show (for us) was the interactive darts board, which is so much more than darts. There are loads of different game modes, from fast‑paced challenges to more traditional play, but the one that had us howling was the quiz game. You get a question with four possible answers, each one tucked neatly into a quarter of the dartboard. To answer, you literally throw your dart at the corner that matches your choice. It’s chaotic, hilarious, and surprisingly tense, especially when you’re convinced you know the answer but your dart has other ideas. My teens were in their element, and I found myself getting just as competitive. It’s the kind of game that works for mixed ages and mixed abilities, which is exactly why I think my younger two will adore it as much as the older ones.
We also fell in love with the shuffleboard, which has that old‑school charm but with a modern twist. There’s something wonderfully satisfying about sliding those pucks down the board, trying to land them just-so while everyone else cheers, groans, or pretends they’re not secretly trying to knock you off. It’s easy to learn, addictive to play, and perfect for dipping in and out between food and drinks.
And now the food,and that new snacking menu from Eric’s Pizza! (The same Eric of Eric’s Fish and Chips by the way – also excellent with its own really fun little restaurant in Holt – haven’t been for ages, must change that!) But at Yalm it’s all about Eric’s Pizza offering and the snacks absolutely delivered while being ideal for grazing while you play.
The Marmite pizza was the wildcard choice, and even one of my Marmite hating kids admitted it was delicious. The loaded crisps were outrageously good, and the garlicky butter with the dough balls was honestly the best we’ve ever tasted. Proper dough ball of dreams territory. And then there was the Burrata… creamy, silky, and so moreish I kept wandering back for “just one more bite.” That’s the beauty of this menu: it’s relaxed, shareable, and perfect for a night of chatting, laughing, and nibbling. We washed everything down with kombucha, which felt like the right level of refreshing for a games‑night vibe – but maybe next time I will plump for the prosecco, damn and blast for being a driver on our visit!
So, things to note:
- When planning a family visit to The Boardroom, aim for earlier than 7pm so the kiddos can enjoy too.
- For food bookings at Yalm, whether Eric’s or one of the other vendors, you’ll need a group of eight or more; otherwise it’s walk‑in only.
- To book the games themselves, you simply head to Yalm’s website. Prices are really reasonable too: Flyby Darts starts at £3.50 per person for 25 minutes, and Shufltech is £24 for 55 minutes or £32 for 85 minutes.
All in all, it was one of those evenings that just worked; fun, relaxed, full of laughs, and delicious food to keep everyone happy. My teens have already asked when we’re going back, and I’m genuinely excited to return with the younger two to see if they fall in love with The Boardroom as much as we did. And yes, a girls’ night is absolutely on the cards too.
