When I was about 8 or 9 I remember a craze happening for troll dolls. They were a bit ugly looking with crazy hair and literally EVERYBODY had one. Even Monica and Ross on ‘Friends’ had a troll doll for their family thanks giving baseball trophy! Seriously, they were absolutely IT at one point!
I haven’t seen troll dolls for quite some time but something Florence was sent to review recently has reminded me of them loads. She was sent a Zelfs doll by Character and it has great similarities with a bit of an ugly yet cute face and a crazy mop of hair shooting straight upwards!
Just like Troll dolls back in the day, the appeal seems minimal to a grown up but somehow children absolutely love them! Florence looked at it in the packet and said ‘I’ve ALWAYS wanted one of these’ and has proceeded to include it in her play with other dolls ever since. She was sent the ‘Oceana’ Zelf which like the others comes with a hair brush and honestly, she’s pleased as punch with it!
There’s loads of Zelfs in the collection (and it is very much a collecting thing – just as Troll dolls were) including scented ones and brilliantly priced little ones for pocket money buys! We think they’re rather fab actually!
