Wroxham Barns – Summer Holidays 2026!
I’d probably say it’s my favourite season at Wroxham Barns whichever time of year we visit! The family who run it help the farm chameleon so beautifully into each with each school holiday, to match the weather and the vibe, that it’s very hard to not think “best day ever”, whenever we get home from a day there! Perhaps then, every season is actually my true favourite, but boy… Summer is glorious!
They have glamping (which we have done for the last two years) gifting unlimited time on the farm and park, with lots of little extras like a camping host to play organised games in camp, extra special farm visits to wake up the animals and more. Not just “glamping” (with its extra large 6 man lunar and 4 man bell tents all kitted out with beds and beauty), but you can even pitch your own tent to take advantage of simply the most brilliant location, or with the add on of the farm to boot.
Either way, it’s a great place to stay! But… If you aren’t planning on a mini break (and unfortunately, we are a little constrained to day trips this summer as our pockets became very shallow after the demise of our old car) then a day trip is always recommended to take advantage of the fun on the farm! Right now you don’t even have to commit to a full day trip, they have a new cafe (where the under cover picnic area used to be) which is home to the old soft play (but with a brilliant reconfiguration) and you can pay under £3 per child for them to just do that – perfect for a rainy day and actually, both Raffie and Posie spent absolutely ages in there yesterday. They didn’t spend much time in the Wroxham barns soft play in its old home (now house to the guinea pigs – the very same blood thirsty one who bit Posie’s finger on her school trip no doubt – she put her finger in the way I’m sure but that’s not her story), and I’m sure it was simply down to the lay out because now that it is rebuilt it’s far superior and so much more fun!
As well as all the regular fun on the farm which is year round and always brilliant, for summer (as in previous years) they are offering their field of fun: games, a maize maze (filled with illusion fun), farm encounters like calf feeding, the discovery zone with its tree top walk way, a toy takeover games room and a toy trail as well as the always BRILLIANT foam party; which, for this year comes with a new twist!
THE SPLASH ZONE! A giant paddling pool of epic proportions is big enough for little ones to actually swim in but not so deep they feel worried! I LOVE water play and used to seek out any which way possible to find fountains and splash zones when we lived in London, it’s a little easier to find water play in Norfolk but always an added bonus when somewhere that didn’t have it, now does! It’s a sure fire way to keep the kiddos cool and happy and Wroxham Barns have done this one beautifully! It perfectly sits next to the water wars (used to be in the play area) and the even better than ever foam disco at 3pm!
Because this year they also opened their new adventure play zone (where the rides used to be), this also invites an older little one. I’d say this area has gifted us another 3-4 years than we would have had otherwise with Raffie, who had the very best day yesterday! The train ride, bouncing pillows and crazy golf have remained which is also a boost for Raffie who was initially worried that they might have gone too. He says he does miss the rides but prefers it how it is now and is very glad the golf is still there! We never tire of the crazy golf (when I say we, I use that a little loosely, my children never tire of it) and it’s a must on every visit!
All in all, Wroxham Barns is still a favourite day out for us, and this summer they have gone great guns into keeping that true but also making it even more embedded… You literally cannot go wrong with a day out here as a family, and when you know that it won’t break the bank with its £14.70 entry price (It’s £2.63 for infants under 2 years old and babes in arms are FREE) PLUS you will also get a ticket to return for just £5, it makes for two very inexpensive days out in one! I say visit now and then keep that return visit like a dangling carrot for the rest of the summer, because going back is definitely going to be what the children ask for as soon as the day is over – at least mine have!
